We are looking for a highly skilled Controller to lead our accounting functions and ensure our financial operations are as precise and reliable as our technology. The Controller provides financial leadership across the organization and is the primary leader responsible for upholding our financial reporting and internal control environment. The Controller leads the accounting team, manages the month-end close process, and ensures full compliance with US GAAP and government contracting standards (FAR/DFARS), while supporting Firefly's consolidated financial and SEC reporting. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring a blend of government and financial accounting experience, strategic oversight, and a commitment to operational excellence.

Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the daily operations of the accounting department, including AP/AR, payroll, subsidiary treasury, and general ledger activities
- Oversee the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes, ensuring the delivery of accurate and timely financial statements
- Work with the Firefly technical accounting team to manage revenue recognition processes, ensuring compliance with ASC 606 for complex government and commercial contracts
- Coordinate and lead specialized government audits (e.g., DCAA/DCMA), and work with the Firefly team to support consolidated quarterly financial reviews and the annual financial audit
- Ensure rigorous adherence to Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) and the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), where applicable
- Work cross-functionally with other SciTec leaders to drive SciTec's efforts to implement and maintain compliance with SOX 404
- Design, implement, and maintain a robust internal control environment
- Develop and document formal accounting policies and procedures to scale with SciTec's growth
- Collaborate with SciTec leadership and the Firefly finance team to provide financial insights that drive business decisions
- Mentor and develop a high-performing accounting team of 10+ professionals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement
Requirements
- 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a Controller or Assistant Controller capacity.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- Significant and demonstrated experience in Government Contracting (GovCon) with deep knowledge of DCAA requirements and FAR/DFARS
- Expert-level knowledge of US GAAP
- Proven experience implementing and managing SOX 404 frameworks
- Proficiency in sophisticated ERP systems
- Excellent analytical, problem solving, communication skills, and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, constraints, and deadlines in a fast-paced, high-growth, constantly changing environment
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to translate complex financial data for non-financial stakeholders
- Advanced proficiency in Excel
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance
Candidates who have one or more of the following qualifications will be preferred
- CPA/MBA
- Experience with Deltek CostPoint or similar GovCon-specific software
- Exposure to business intelligence tools
- Supervisory experience
- Cost accounting experience
- Financial reporting experience
