Description
SAIC is seeking a Live Training Environment (LTE) Systems of Systems (SoS) Sustainment Engineer to support the Naval Aviation Enterprise (NAE) and PMA-205 with the fielding, integration, and sustainment of Tactical Combat Training System Increment II (TCTS II) capabilities across Navy and Marine Corps Tactical Training Ranges at the disposal of PMA-205 and be dedicated to PMA-205 throughout the contract period.
This role provides centralized systems oversight for a distributed training SoS, enabling advanced aircrew training through integration of live aircraft instrumentation, range infrastructure, communications/data links, and supporting training systems. The engineer will work directly with government stakeholders, operational users, and contractor teams to ensure fleet-ready capability, effective transition from legacy systems, and sustained training fidelity.
Main Responsibilities
• Lead/support technical execution of TCTS II fielding across multiple Navy/USMC sites, including range coordination and installation readiness.
• Support site activation technical packages and approval workflows (e.g., RFA, Cyber MFR, NAVFAC SAR, and related submissions).
• Review CDRLs (e.g., SSR, SPRIP) and engineering artifacts (network diagrams, site plans, RF plots, tower/elevation drawings) for technical feasibility and completeness.
• Coordinate across OEMs, range personnel, and support activities to enable smooth installation, integration, and operational acceptance.
• Identify and document capability gaps affecting SoS interoperability, training realism, and operational usability.
• Develop and execute sustainment approaches aligned to Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) principles for LTE SoS components.
• Support transition planning from legacy tracking systems (TCTS I and others) to TCTS II and LTE digital architecture, including process integration considerations.
• Drive obsolescence and DMSMS risk identification/mitigation, sustainment roadmaps, and engineering dispositions for legacy systems that are still critical to readiness.
• Support cross-system interoperability efforts involving EW training systems, range infrastructure, and tactical data link integration.
• Serve as a technical SME supporting PMA-205 / NAWCTSD acquisition activities, including inputs to PIDs, SOWs, and CDRLs.
• Support technical evaluations of proposals/modifications, review ECPs, and contribute to IGCEs.
• Ensure sustainment elements (spares, manuals, training, tech data) are aligned with hardware/software upgrades and fielding schedules.
Qualifications
Required
• Active Secret clearance and ability to obtain Top Secret.
• Bachelor's degree in engineering/systems/CS (or related) with 9+ years relevant experience; 4+ years may substitute for degree. (BS and 9, AS and 11 years)
• 4+ years of hands-on TCTS II experience (fielding and/or engineering support), including multi-site operational support or deployment activities.
• Experience in system integration, fielding, or sustainment engineering, and technical fault diagnosis inside multifaceted environments.
• Experience interfacing with government customers, operational users, and contractor/OEM teams; ability to produce and review technical documentation.
• Military experience is required, and candidates must be comfortable operating in military environments and directly assisting military customers.
Preferred
• Experience supporting Naval Aviation training systems, Tactical Training Ranges, or LTE-related architecture.
• Familiarity with ILS, DMSMS/obsolescence planning, and sustainment roadmaps.
• Background with EW training systems, instrumentation pods, communications/data links, or range infrastructure assimilation.
• Experience supporting acquisition documentation and contract lifecycle activities for DoD programs.
Target salary range: $120,001 - $160,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
