Overview
We are seeking an experienced Virtual Machine Provisioning Engineer (Senior) to support secure enterprise and federal infrastructure environments. This role is responsible for provisioning, configuring, and maintaining virtual machines across multiple platforms while ensuring system reliability, security compliance, and operational performance. The engineer will support daily infrastructure operations including VM lifecycle management, OS configuration, monitoring, and backup/restore validation.
Education & Certification Requirements
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.
• DoD 8570 / 8140 compliant certification (Security+ CE or equivalent).
Clearance Requirements
• Tier 5 (T5) Investigation required.
• Active CAC required.
Onsite Requirements
• 100% Remote (may require occasional virtual coordination with government teams).
Responsibilities
• Provision and manage virtual machines across multiple environments.
• Perform OS configuration, patching, and system hardening on Linux and Windows.
• Monitor VM health and performance (CPU, memory, disk, service availability).
• Assist with backup configuration, restore testing, and DR validation.
• Troubleshoot VM performance, boot failures, and availability incidents.
• Maintain VM inventory, documentation, and configuration records.
• Support monitoring, alert investigation, and incident response.
• Ensure systems remain compliant with federal security requirements.
• Collaborate with cloud, virtualization, and infrastructure engineering teams.
Qualifications
• 7–10 years of experience supporting enterprise infrastructure systems or virtualization platforms.
• Experience administering Linux and Windows in enterprise environments.
• Strong troubleshooting experience with VM provisioning and OS‑level issues.
Desired Skills
• Experience with VMware, Hyper‑V, OCI, or other virtualization platforms.
• Familiarity with enterprise monitoring and alerting tools.
• Experience supporting federal/government environments.
• Knowledge of system hardening and secure baseline configurations.
• Experience with backup, recovery, and DR validation.
