Duties
Help
  • Serve as a Patrol Captain within the Police Division of the Directorate of Emergency Services with overall responsibility for the command and control of all law enforcement patrol operations performed on on a major military installation.
  • Perform duties as a supervisory police officer performing law enforcement duties in an area of exclusive Federal jurisdiction.
  • Ensure reasonable equity of performance standards and rating techniques developed by subordinate supervisors among subordinate units/teams.
  • Conduct supervisory operational reviews of law enforcement activities to ensure maintenance of training standards and that all required and other approved equipment is properly issued and maintained.
  • Responsible for ensuring accuracy of and compliance with existing policies and procedures regarding police operations and administration.
  • Respond to various calls for law enforcement services at all levels (felony and misdemeanor), to include crimes in progress, citizen complaints, and emergency situations to include natural and manmade disasters.
  • Arrest/apprehend or directs the arrest/apprehension of violators, with goal of case referral to the appropriate Federal prosecutorial authority.
  • Serve as a deterrent to crime by being present in the area and through observation, inspection, and investigation. As appropriate, appears as a witness at judicial proceedings.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Position requires ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • Position is subject to the Lautenberg Amendment/Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968.
  • Position is covered by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program.
  • Positions Identified Critical Under the Department of the Army Drug-Free Federal Workplace Program) and must pass urinalysis testing, as required prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • Firearms testing and successful qualification to Army published standards are required on a semi-annual basis. This may include firing at night, with one hand, or while under time constraints or physical stress.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an Individual Reliability Program certification IAW Army Regulation (AR) 190-56/The Army Civilian Police and Security Guard Program.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license.
  • This position requires shift work and/or work on rotating shifts to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays and other situations and may require the incumbent to work overtime.
  • -Must be able to successfully graduate from a United States Army Military Police School accredited Department of the Army Civilian Police Academy.
  • Must be able to act as a first responder to critical incidents, including but not limited to: criminal acts, natural disasters, lost or missing persons, mass casualties, and/or acts of terror or mass destruction.
  • A medical screening/examination is required in accordance with Army Regulation 190-56.
  • Must be able to pass an annual physical agility test.
  • -Position requires routine and emergency daily duties while wearing a uniform and/or protective clothing to include facial protective masks/headgear, soft body armor where assigned, and duty belt with police equipment.
  • Heavy Lifting (in excess of 45 pounds is required)

Specialized Experience is described as one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service which includes: supervising/leading and providing guidance/direction to law enforcement patrol operations
