MTSI is seeking a Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortages (DMSMS) Manager to support an AFLCMC System Program Office (SPO). The manager will be responsible for leading the development and execution of the DMSMS management program to ensure the lifecycle supportability of multiple platform systems and subsystems.
As the primary liaison for obsolescence management between the User community, the SPO, engineering, and relevant MAJCOMs, the manager will lead efforts to proactively identify, analyze, and mitigate DMSMS issues. By integrating data from bills of material (BOMs), health monitoring system, and industry sources, the manager will establish and maintain the program's overarching DMSMS risk management strategy. They will be responsible for ensuring that DMSMS case resolutions (such as alternative parts, redesigns, or lifetime buys) are effectively translated into technical documentation and system modifications.
The manager will oversee the program's health monitoring and ensure that timely case directives and resolutions are implemented to prevent impacts to field units. Furthermore, the manager will be responsible for evolving the DMSMS Management Plan in line with weapon system modifications and modernization efforts, ensuring that new designs are assessed for long-term supportability.
The ideal candidate must have significant experience with USAF sustainment, logistics, and technical data principles (such as SD-22, TO 00-5-1, TO 00-20-1, and AFI 21-101) and be able to communicate complex risk analyses effectively to enable the successful execution of the SPO's mission. The individual will work within highly classified workspaces (Top Secret (TS) Special Access Program (SAP) and Sensitive Compartmentalized Information (SCI) environments) daily and must have experience working with SAP and other highly classified documents.
How you will contribute to our National Security and Defense mission:
By developing and managing the foundational maintenance concept that ensures our critical weapon systems are safe, reliable, and always ready to support the mission.
You'll be a great fit for this role if:
• Self-motivated with a work ethic that the mission comes first
• Have good communications skills
• Detail oriented
• Passionate about supporting our warfighters
Responsibilities:
Your essential job functions will include but may not be limited to:
• Lead the development and execution of the program's DMSMS Management Plan, serving as the SPO's primary expert for all obsolescence and material shortage issues.
• Act as the lead DMSMS liaison between the SPO, Engineering, Product Support, Industry partners, and relevant MAJCOMs to proactively identify and resolve parts obsolescence issues.
• Establish and manage a proactive DMSMS program, including predictive tools and health monitoring of Bills of Material (BOMs) to anticipate and mitigate supply chain risks.
• Provide critical DMSMS analysis and data-driven recommendations to the Product Support Manager (PSM) to shape the system's overarching product support and sustainment strategy.
• Lead DMSMS case management by analyzing issues, developing resolution options (e.g., alternative parts, form-fit-function replacements, redesigns, lifetime buys), and presenting business cases for approval.
• Ensure DMSMS resolutions are effectively integrated into the weapon system baseline by overseeing updates to technical documentation, engineering drawings, and logistics data.
• Manage the qualification, certification, and validation process for new or alternative components introduced as a result of DMSMS resolutions, ensuring they are safe and effective.
• Ensure timely directives, such as Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) and Technical Order (TO) changes related to obsolescence, are issued to the field to maintain system supportability.
• Analyze the impact of DMSMS resolutions on training systems and courseware, ensuring that maintenance and operator training are updated to reflect new parts or procedures.
Qualifications Required:
• Master's degree and 4+ years' project management experience, or bachelor's degree and 6+ years' project management experience, associate's degree and 8+ years' project management experience, or high school diploma (or GED) and 11+ years' project management experience.
Education:
• See Qualifications Requirements
Even better if you have these desired skills:
