Job Description/Essential Functions:

Bevilacqua Research Corporation (BRC) is a Service Disabled Veteran Owned, Small Business based in Huntsville, Alabama incorporated in 1992. BRC provides "best-value" technical and management solutions to a diverse government and commercial customer base in the following key business areas: test & evaluation, systems analysis & integration, security & intelligence, and R&D.

This position provides support for Systems and Test Engineering on Space Launch Systems (SLS) Stages Element Avionics as well as Avionics Hardware in the Loop testing. This position will represent NASA by providing engineering consultation and support during testing of the SLS avionics systems. This position will also perform testing for Hardware in the Loop Avionics testing. Some travel to MAF to participate in avionics testing of the SLS rocket is expected.

Responsibilities:

This person selected for this position will contribute to the NASA mission by performing the following activities:

• Developing working relationships with test and integration engineers and management
• Becoming the expert on the SLS Core Stage and Upper Stage avionics from a systems level perspective
• Attending and contributing to SLS Core Stage meetings concerning avionics test technical issues/status
• Meeting weekly with SLS Stages Avionics Element Discipline Lead Engineer (EDLE)
• Reviewing Level 2 Integrated Avionics Test Facility (IATF) and flight software documentation, as well as Core Stage Test related documentation
• Being actively engaged in Systems Integration and Test Facility-Qualification Line (SITF-Q) technical issues/problems reports
• Providing technical input to the SITF-Q development, integration, verification, and certification activities, including the Level 2 Verification, Validation and Accreditation activities
• Providing technical insight into Level 2 to SLS Core Stage interfaces in SITF-Q
• Providing technical input to the Michoud Assembly Facility (MAF) for acceptance testing
• Being cognizant of Material Review Boards (MRBs) generated during MAF acceptance testing
• Participating in MAF and MAF Test Equipment related reviews and meetings
• Providing technical insight for Avionics Green Run test equipment: Stages Controller, B-2 Test Stand Emulator and Vehicle Emulator
• Providing technical insight into the Stennis Space Center (SSC) Test Stand activities
• Providing technical insight for Green Run early activation activities, Green Run avionics power on, and Green Run hot fire tests
• Participating in Green Run and Green Run Test Equipment related reviews and meetings

• Providing technical support for development of Kennedy Space Center (KSC) integration activities involving SLS Core Stage
• Providing technical input/review of Core Stage related Operations and Maintenance Requirements and Specification (OMRS) and Launch Commit Criteria (LCC)
• Participate in KSC Test Equipment related reviews and meetings
• Providing technical support for Stages reviews such as Preliminary Design Review, Critical Design Reviews, Test Readiness Reviews, and Design Certification Reviews

Travel may be required and is expected to be no more than 20%.

Minimum Requirements:
A BS degree (MS preferred) in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Civil Engineering, or Engineering Mechanics or related field and a minimum of 15 years of experience is required. Degree from an ABET accredited institution is preferred. Typically, educational requirements are the equivalent of a Ph.D. with a minimum 9 years of experience; Masters with at least 13 years of experience, or a BS with at least 15 years of experience.

Required Skills:

Demonstrated expertise in the following is preferred:

- Testing / test methodology and performing verification and validation activities at a system level
- Experience with system design requirements and data analysis for projects relating to electronics systems and instrumentation
- Assimilation of test requirements in order to develop test methodology and test approach to address requirement verification, including definition of needed test resources
- Development of test plans and procedures
- Troubleshooting and testing in support of distributed computing and simulation systems
- Working with busses and networks such as MIL-STD 1553, Ethernet and RS-422
- Clear written and verbal communications with team members and others outside the team.
- Ability to analyze data for validation and verification of test performance
- Ability to develop simple test scripts in Python and/or C/C++
- Willingness to perform occasional shift and weekend work
