Chief Engineer

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Chief Engineer to support a company focused on advanced multi-domain communications, computing, cyber, command and control technologies within the defense and aerospace industry. This position is 100% onsite in Colorado Springs, CO. The Chief Engineer will lead technical strategy, engineering execution, and multi-domain integration across air, space, maritime, and land systems. This mission-critical role directly advances national-level kill chain and battle network modernization initiatives.

Responsibilities for the Chief Engineer include:

• Lead multi-disciplinary IPTs to develop advanced software and hardware prototypes supporting command and control across all domains
• Define and execute systems engineering strategies, technical roadmaps, and integrated development plans
• Provide technical leadership to ~75 engineers, ensuring execution excellence and engineering rigor
• Oversee supplier technical performance and ensure compliance with engineering standards
• Drive process improvements, reduce technical risk, and ensure effective collaboration with internal teams, customers, and partners

Required Qualifications for the Chief Engineer include:

• 10+ years of engineering experience with 5+ years leading programs or teams
• 1-2 years of space domain experience
• Demonstrated experience with product development and systems engineering across lifecycle phases
• Experience with joint all-domain command and control concepts
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or related field
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret / SCI clearance (U.S. Citizenship required)

Compensation for the Chief Engineer includes:

• Salary Range: $180,000-200,000 **depending on experience
