Position Overview
Sayres Defense is seeking a mid-level Electrical Engineer to provide engineering and technical support for U.S. Navy service craft programs. This position supports Planning Yard engineering activities and works closely with program leadership to manage electrical system design, technical analysis, and fleet support efforts. The selected candidate will contribute to shipboard electrical system design, drawing development, and technical troubleshooting while coordinating with engineering teams and program managers to support ongoing fleet requirements.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide electrical engineering support for U.S. Navy service craft, supporting planning yard engineering activities and technical requirements.
- Serve as a lead electrical engineer supporting program technical leadership and project managers in executing engineering tasks and resolving fleet technical issues.
- Provide subject matter expertise in electrical engineering, supporting engineering analysis, troubleshooting, and system integration for shipboard electrical systems.
- Support development, review, and modification of shipboard electrical designs and installation documentation, including system arrangements, equipment specifications, and power distribution configurations.
- Develop and revise Ship Installation Drawings (SIDs) using AutoCAD and review technical drawings produced by other engineering activities.
- Prepare and maintain Ship Alteration Records (SARs) and other technical documentation supporting engineering changes and system updates.
- Provide technical responses and documentation support for engineering action records and fleet feedback items.
- Support the management and coordination of engineering workload and technical tasks across engineering teams and shipcheck activities.
- Upload, manage, and maintain technical documentation, manuals, and engineering records in program databases.
- Conduct shipchecks and technical meetings as required to support engineering assessments and project execution.
- Coordinate and support shipcheck teams performing onboard engineering evaluations and data collection.
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering required.
- 5-7 years of engineering experience, preferably in maritime, naval, or industrial electrical systems.
- Experience with AC and DC power distribution systems, electrical system arrangement, equipment sizing, specification development, and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with U.S. Navy ship design standards and/or commercial maritime standards (e.g., ABS, USCG) preferred.
- Experience with AutoCAD for development and review of engineering drawings.
- Ability to analyze technical issues and provide engineering solutions supporting fleet operations.
- Strong coordination and communication skills for working with engineering teams, program leadership, and fleet stakeholders.
- Ability to obtain Secret clearance
- Occasional travel required, typically up to 5 days per month, to support shipchecks and technical meetings.
