LightGrid, a growing government contractor is looking for Staff Accountant to work at our Virginia Beach Headquarters. This is an in-office role.
Job Description
Be Proficient in supporting daily accounting operations of a Government Contracting company, to include but not limited to:
• Manage all Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable activities
• Assist with month-end reconciliations and year-end closing processes
• Monitor contract funding levels and expenditures
• Responsible for Payroll processing, multiple state registrations and certifications
• Processes travel expenses and ensures compliance with Federal regulations and contract terms
• Maintain vendor profiles and required documentation
• Maintain and manage the company’s General Ledger (GL), ensuring all financial transactions are accurately recorded and properly classified
Required Experience Education and skills
Bachelors in Finance with Concentration in Accounting or Bachelors in Accounting or a related field
3-5 years in Government Contracting Experience, Unanet or Procas familiarity, Cost accounting principles, GAAP, FAR Knowledge. Proficient in reconciliations, proficient in Excel, Word and Adobe
Position expectations.
• Process payroll and ensure accuracy of employee compensation, deductions, and payroll reporting
• Perform account reconciliations and assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes
• Prepares month-end journal entries, including depreciation and amortization.
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including invoice review and payment tracking
• Prepare and submit invoices for government contracts and subcontractors in accordance with contract terms
• Monitor contract funding, labor charges, and expenditures to ensure costs remain within authorized limits
• Manage vendor onboarding and maintain vendor profiles, ensuring required documentation (W-9s, banking details, compliance forms) is complete
• Ensure financial transactions comply with requirements under the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS)
• Maintain organized financial documentation to support audits and reporting requirements, including those from the Defense Contract Audit Agency
• Coordinate with HR, contracts, and program management teams to ensure financial accuracy across company operations
Must be able to • Multi-task, handle remote conference calls/meetings, self-motivated, very detail oriented, ability to handle stress while staying calm, and have critical thinking skills
