MANTECH seeks a highly talented and customer-oriented Vulcan Mission Operations Manager to lead our program team in El Segundo, CA.
The Vulcan Mission Operations Manager will help create the future of National Security Space Launch (NSSL) by leading multiple technical discipline teams supporting United Launch Alliance's (ULA) Vulcan launch vehicle product line. This role supports the Space Systems Command (SSC) Assured Access To Space (AATS) Directorate in providing critical mission assurance for satellite launches.
You will act as a proactive leader, providing technical insight and thought leadership to solve complex customer problems while anticipating and managing risks throughout the launch vehicle lifecycle.

This role supports the Space Systems Command (SSC) Assured Access To Space (AATS) Directorate in providing critical mission assurance for satellite launches.
You will act as a proactive leader, providing technical insight and thought leadership to solve complex customer problems while anticipating and managing risks throughout the launch vehicle lifecycle.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Leading a multi-functional team of Project, Manufacturing, and Quality Engineers supporting the Vulcan product line and providing the primary management interface for internal and external meetings.
- Interfacing regularly with USSF Vulcan program managers and technical leadership to support acquisition functions, including requirements development, source selection, and performance reporting.
- Managing the Engineering Review Board (ERB) processes, providing technical risk assessments, and delivering decision-quality recommendations on launch vehicle design, manufacture, and test data.
- Supporting live launch rehearsals and operations for NSSL missions and fleet surveillance to track risks, trends, and Launch Service Provider (LSP) procedural changes.
- Producing integrated technical assessments of current and future launch vehicle and launch pad designs while managing recurring SE&I deliverables for the Space Force.
- Facilitating the certification of Space Force Responsible Engineers (SFREs) and leading the onboarding and training of new personnel through the development of specialized training material.
- Collaborating with FFRDC, LSPs, and manufacturing facilities while performing technical data management and drafting evaluations for higher headquarters taskers and media inquiries.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related STEM field.
- 12+ years of systems engineering or technical program management experience.
- 3+ years of specific experience in NSSL/EELV, Launch/Range, DoD, or NASA systems or project engineering.
- Proven knowledge of USSF and/or NASA launch and range systems, hardware processing, integration, testing, and anomaly resolution.
- Demonstrated ability to lead design reviews, pre- and post-test reviews, and failure analysis reviews within a multi-disciplinary environment.
- High proficiency in MS Office products with the ability to rapidly learn new software platforms for collaboration and project management.
- Ability to perform occasional CONUS travel and regular travel to Los Angeles Air Force Base (LAAFB).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in Engineering or Management.
- Experience managing medium-to-large multi-disciplinary teams using both Waterfall and Agile methodologies.
- US Air Force or US Space Force acquisition experience.
- Current PMP certification.
- Demonstrated proficiency in utilizing JIRA, Confluence, and other collaboration platforms.
Clearance Requirements:
- Must have an active Secret clearance to start, with the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense TS/SCI security clearance.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50%.
- Needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
- Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
- Frequently communicates with co-workers, management, and customers, which may involve delivering presentations. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
