Core Sport Leader

As the Core Sport Leader , you will execute successful operations of physical fitness and wellness programs, recreational programs and social activities, including the operation and maintenance of recreational facilities. The Core Sport Leader performs as a supervisor assisting the Fitness Manager in overseeing fitness program.

The Core Sports Leader must supervise in execution and officiating of all fitness events inclusive of but not exclusive to intramural league sports, weightlifting competitions, 5Ks, 10Ks, Biggest Loser, marathons, and fitness tournaments. Must have a basic knowledge of fitness programs, sports, officiating rules, and fitness equipment. Preferred Core Sports Leader maintain certifications and can perform as a Class Instructor and/or Personal Trainer.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Officiate all intramural sporting events and fitness special events.
• Assist with creating schedules that follow the AF Sports calendar found in the AF Services Activity website to the maximum extent possible as mission dictates and rotation schedules allow.
• Assist and supervise with coordination of special sports events each month such as weekly tournaments for sports other than the current league sport, and competitions such as weightlifting, 5k and 10k fun runs.
• Support documented fitness incentive programs, such as 200-mile run, Fit to Fight, Biggest Loser, Pounders, and other similar events.
• Instruct members in the strength training principles, training procedures, and exercise techniques.
• Teach members the proper and preferred use of all the strength training equipment.
• Inform members of new information regarding strength training, safety and effectiveness.
• Demonstrate training techniques and movements.
• Provide tips and advice on improving form and achieving their goal.
• Ensure safe and effective use of training equipment.
• Maintain training equipment hygiene and safety.
• Other duties as assigned by Site Management.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

• High school diploma or GED.
• Core Sport Leaders shall be certified IAW AFI 34-266 and/ or other applicable AF Fitness guidance and policies.
• Certified in Aerobics and Spin classes. (Preferred)
• Must be knowledgeable in officiating recreational sports inclusive of but not exclusive to volleyball, softball, flag football, soccer, and/or basketball. If not knowledgeable it all listed sports but be willing to learn and become comfortable with all listed.
• Must possess an American Red Cross CPR Certificate, an American Red Cross Standard First Aid certificate or local equivalent certifications (as approved by the ACO), and an Automated External Defibrillator Certification.
• Excellent social, verbal and written communication skills
• Strong working knowledge of fitness training and exercises
• Physical ability to perform exercises for long periods of time

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENT:

• Must possess a valid U.S. Driver's License
• Possess a valid U.S. Passport (preferred)
• Must be able to meet all current USCENTCOM Deployment Policy Requirements, as outlined in the USCENTCOM APR 23 MOD EIGHTEEN TO USCENTCOM INDIVIDUAL AND INDIVIDUAL-UNIT DEPLOYMENT POLICY
• Able to obtain and maintain a valid Residency Visa for the UAE.
• Must be able to work in extreme environmental conditions including dust and high temperatures.
• Must be able to endure long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions.

TRAVEL: 100% Overseas Assignment

SECURITY CLEARANCE: Must have and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance.
