Duties

As a HEATH SYSTEMS SPECIALIST, GS-0671-9, you will:
  • Review, evaluate, and interpret regulatory guidance, policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for oversight, administration, and implement of policies pertaining to state medical affairs.
  • Provide guidance to all users through development of policies, procedures and standard operation procedures (SOP)
  • Collect, analyze and provide statistical reports.
  • Manage the funds associated with the health services account and provides an accounting for expenditures as required.
  • Serve as the principal advisor to the Chief of the MILPO, as well as to general officer commanders, and personnel on eligibility for health care, sources of health care, medical aspects of physical readiness training and testing, Active Duty Medical Extensions, and LOD investigations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Additional Employment Requirements:

  • You may be required to successfully complete a 1- or 2- year probation/trial period to assess performance, conduct, agency needs, public interest, and efficiency. Employment ends unless certified in writing that it advances the agencies interest.

Qualifications

GENERAL EXPERIENCE :
Must have at least 12 months on-the-job experience and validated understanding of the basic principles and concepts of the occupational series and grade.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE :
Must have at least 12 months experience and knowledge in the following:
  • Basic principles and practices related to the management of health care delivery systems
  • General clerical procedures; medical terminology; regulations, and directives; medical ethics; health records administration; principles of coding; and anatomy or physiology programs
  • Health facilities, health plan management, medical resources, health care information management and information technology, medical logistics, or medical readiness (including aeromedical evacuation)
  • Analyzing and recommending solutions to complicated problems
  • Developing and implementing various policies and procedures used in the state medical programs
  • Administrative areas such as budget, personnel and public relations within a medical unit or medical activity.
