Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: providing technical expertise, and training in fire protection efforts; assigning work requirements; directing firefighting operations; implementing plans and programs; and providing direction during emergency incidents.

Military Spouse Preference applicants will be placed at the highest grade for which they have applied and are determined Best Qualified (BQ). A BQ military spouse possesses knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies comparable to others who meet the competitive referral criteria for the specific position.
PPP applicants will be placed at the FPL, if determined Well Qualified (WQ). To receive priority consideration, the FPL must be the same grade level or equivalent of the retained grade or the grade held immediately prior to separation.
- You will be responsible for developing and implementing a systemic inspection program for all facilities on the installation.
- You will inspect and initiate immediate corrective action in circumstances as they arise, involving storage of hazardous materials, broken or leaking gas lines.
- You will provide guidance and instruction to subordinates in areas such as recommended training, inspection of facilities, plans reviews and daily work schedules.
- You will establish criteria, formulate projects, assess program effectiveness, investigate or analyze a variety of unusual conditions, problems or questions.
- You will review all plans for new construction, alterations, renovation of facilities on the installation.
- You will keep the Fire chief informed on all matters relative to the fire prevention training and safety programs.
- You will be at all times to present a detailed report on the Fire Prevention program requirements, objectives and accomplishments

- Must possess the following certifications issued either by the DOD, the Pro-Board, or the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC):Hazardous Materials Awareness; Hazardous Materials Operations; Technician and Incident Commander.
- Must possess the following certifications issued either by the DOD, the Pro-Board, or the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC): Fire Officer III; Fire Inspector II; Fire Instructor II.
- Must be trained and certified to the Department of Transportation or National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians Emergency Medical Responder or equivalent level.
- Must possess EVOC-Emergency Vehicle Operators Course and state class F driver's license.
- FEMA Certifications: ICS-100, ICS-200, ICS-300, ICS-400, ICS-700 and ICS-800.
