Duties

  • Routes and moves parts, assemblies, and other materials into and out of repair facilities. Performs as primary or alternate custodian for some of the major programs assigned to the section, I e, Bench Stock, Precious Metals, Composite Tool Kit (CTK), Hazardous Materials, Technical Orders, Test, Measurement, and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE), etc.
  • Ships, receives, or moves a variety of parts, materials, components, and assemblies into and out of storage facilities.
  • Selects parts and materials to be turned into Supply or Defense Reutilization and Marketing Office (DRMO). Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintams asafe and clean work environment Uses and assures proper fit of any required safety equipment and clothing
  • Orders and receives parts demanded by customers, to include back shops Cross-references part number to stock number.
  • Performs a complete range of issuing/receiving duties of assigned tools and equipment and maintains them in accordance with applicable directives.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C.

QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-6900 Warehousing and Stock Handling Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

The screen out element for this position is the ability to do the work of a MATERIAL EXPEDITER without more than normal supervision.

JOB ELEMENTS: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of production processes and supply procedures in order to locate and expedite critical parts, and technical practices to be able to route, move, assemble, receive, select, and obtain materials.
2. Ability to carry out work practices such as verifying and correcting routing and ordering documents and keeping things neat, clean, and in order.
3. Ability to route, obtain, and expedite parts, end items, supplies, and materials without more than normal supervision.
4. Knowledge of supply regulations, policies, procedures, techniques, and methods, and policies and procedures for requisitioning and issuing supplies and expediting critical parts, and of technical practices to be able to route, move, receive, select, and obtain material.
5. Ability to use tools/equipment, store various items, set up and maintain a neat, well organized, and secure storage area, store, issue, inspect and inventory tools and/or equipment, and maintain records using automated and/or mechanized systems without more than normal supervision.
6. Knowledge of data entry and processing of supply transactions in an automated supply system. Ability to read and interpret instructions, regulations, and supply documents. Knowledge of safety regulations, practices, and procedures. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

PHYSICAL EFFORT: Works on hard surfaces and in work areas that require walking, standing, stooping, bending, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts and carries weights up to 40 pounds. May occasionally handle items weighing up to 60 pounds. May lift heavier items with weight handling equipment or with assistance from other workers.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is usually performed indoors in areas that are well lighted, heated, and ventilated. May be exposed to outdoorconditions for short periods of time Work is sometimes dirty, dusty, and greasy. May be frequently exposed to thepossibility of cuts, scrapes, and bruises.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
