MANTECH seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our vehicle sustainment team in Hunter Army Airfield, Savannah, GA. The selected candidate will provide maintenance and logistics support to multiple Family of Special Operations Vehicles (FOSOV) globally on the Allied Logistics Engineering Capabilities Sustainment (ALECS) program.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Perform preventative maintenance, diagnostics and repairs on heavy tactical vehicles, including MRAP FOV and FOSOV related platforms.
  • Troubleshoot and repair diesel and gas engines, transmissions, drivetrains, braking, steering and suspension systems.
  • Conducts scheduled services, inspections, and repairs, ensuring equipment safety and readiness standards.
  • Document maintenance actions accurately in accordance with established standards. Use logistics information system (LogMASTRE) record keeping, as required.
  • Maintains CFR, FIAR, OSHA, AFOSH, and other federal, country, state regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Properly handles the accountability and disposal of hazardous waste and maintains current certifications and training requirements.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications :
  • 6+ years of qualified mechanical experience.
    • Qualified mechanical experience includes one or more of the following: light or heavy-duty trucks, tractors, tactical vehicles, aviation ground support systems, generators, power plants, aircraft or any diesel or gasoline powered equipment or vehicle.
  • Proven maintenance experience with repair and technical experience, background in industrial manufacturing, commercial maintenance or military operations or military maintenance.
  • Experience with maintenance support to include operations, system troubleshooting, engineering, design, installation, analysis, maintenance and repair of U.S. systems and subsystems to component level.
  • Experience with a variety of hand tools, diagnostic tools, power tools, multi-meters; experience applying industry and/or military standard troubleshooting procedures to isolate faulty system components.
  • Ability to successfully pass a Pre-Employment Drug Screening; must possess a Valid Driver's License for the location in which the work will be performed, a High School Diploma or GED.


Clearance Requirements:
  • Must be a US Citizen and have a current/active Secret clearance.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior training or experience on Ground Mobility Vehicle 1.1 (GMV 1.1)
  • Prior training or experience Non - Standard Commercial Vehicles (NSCV) i.e. Toyota, Polaris.
  • Prior training on the MRAP FOV systems & CROWS Weapon Station.
  • Prior training or experience in the use of Enterprise Logistics Management System (ELMS), GCSS-A or DOD equivalent to ensure military supply system proficiency and managing inventory and maintenance records.


Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to balance, bend, carry, crouch, stretch and kneel.
  • Must be able to push, pull, and reach.
  • Must be able to work in high noise areas.
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs and small parts.
  • Must be able to work with computers and CRTs, and type on a computer keyboard.
