Northrop Grumman Mission System's Engineering and Sciences (E&S) Baltimore and Partnered Sites (BaPs) Division is seeking a leader to manage the Antenna Subsystem Architecture and Analysis Section. The team is responsible for overall RF Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) subsystem requirements decomposition, requirements derivation, architecture definition, trade studies, analysis, design, verification, test, and integration of existing and future RF antenna subsystems across a variety of platforms.

This position is located on-site in Baltimore, MD and supports the Engineering & Sciences organization aligned to the Baltimore and Partners Division. This position will report to the Director of AESA Subsystems & Product Leadership.

This position is dual role encompassing both people and project/technical leadership.

What You'll Get to do:
  • Lead an engineering group of five front-line managers and 50-60 engineers including performance management, career development, staffing, and merit planning
  • Direct management and consulting of the section's Technical Leadership
  • Provide project and technical oversight for activities performed by the group
  • Ensure application of design processes and guidelines used in the group
  • Drive continuous improvement in engineering processes, documentation, and quality
  • Promote team building through coaching, mentoring, and career development
  • Develop proposal inputs and review proposal content for both internal and external customers
  • Collaborate with peer managers to ensure consistency across multiple work groups
  • Responsible for recruitment and onboarding of top-tier multi-disciplined engineering talent
  • Support AESA subsystem technology roadmap strategic discussions for the enterprise
  • Support department initiatives, recruiting, cross-campus/sector involvement, and internally funded projects


This role is contingent upon candidates having an Active Secret Clearance and the ability to obtain Special Program Access (SAP).

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree with 8 years of experience, a Master's degree with 6 years of experience or a PhD with 4 years of experience in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics or related technical fields.
  • U.S Citizenship is required.
  • A current/active DoD secret clearance.
  • Ability to obtain Special Program Access (SAP).
  • 5 years of experience as an IPT Lead and/or Functional Management of technical teams.
  • Understanding of the components comprising an AESA subsystem.
  • Understanding of RF, analog, and digital electronics.
  • Understanding of engineering processes, process development, and engineering metrics.
  • Understanding of recruitment and onboarding of engineering personnel.
  • Effective communication with executive leadership from functional/program organizations.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Advanced degrees in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics or related technical fields.
  • Active DoD Top Secret Clearance or higher.
  • Experience in a multi-disciplined engineering environment.
  • Demonstrated success in setting expectations and driving accountability through multi-level engineering organizations.
  • Demonstrated success in implementing engineering metrics as well as continuous improvement in engineering processes, documentation, and quality.
  • Proven ability to understand system-level requirements and decompose to derive hardware, digital, and software requirements.
  • Understanding of RF product design and design verification testing.
  • Relevant experience base with hands-on lab skills, integration, and subsystem test with mixed RF-digital systems.

Primary Level Salary Range: $184,300.00 - $276,500.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
