Sr. Software Developer

Zachary Piper Solutions is currently seeking a Senior Software Developer to support a mission-critical defense program within the Navy and Marine Corps Sector, based in Patuxent River, MD . This is a full-time position that will be onsite supporting high-visibility initiatives for the Department of the Navy (DON) and Department of War (DOW). This role is essential to the development and sustainment of secure software platforms that enable cyber operations, Maritime Domain Awareness (MDA), situational awareness, and mission data systems across national security environments. As a Senior Software Developer, you will play a pivotal role in designing, engineering, integrating, and maintaining advanced software capabilities in support of defense technology missions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support all stages of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), including requirements analysis, design, development, integration, testing, and deployment.
• Design and develop software applications supporting cyber operations, Maritime Domain Awareness, situational awareness, and mission data systems.
• Analyze complex technical and operational requirements to develop scalable architectures and mission-ready software.
• Conduct software testing, debugging, optimization, and enhancements to improve performance and system functionality.
• Collaborate with engineering teams across systems integration, database development, and technical documentation workstreams.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior developers while supporting multiple defense programs simultaneously.
• Engage with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure secure development practices and mission-aligned software delivery.

Requirements:

• Master's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical discipline
• 10+ years of professional software development experience
• 5+ years supporting Department of Defense (DoD) or DOW programs
• Proficiency across SDLC methodologies, secure coding standards, and software architecture
• Strong analytical, documentation, and communication abilities
• Active DOW Top Secret Security Clearance with ability to obtain SCI access
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense CAC
• Must meet Cybersecurity Workforce (CSWF) Work Role ID 621 - Software Developer requirements

Compensation Includes:

• $150,000 - $190,000 *depending on experience*
