MANTECH seeks a motivated and energetic Falcon Deputy Chief Engineer to join our team in El Segundo, CA.
The Falcon Deputy Chief Engineer will help the United States Space Force (USSF) Space Systems Command (SSC), Assured Access to Space (AATS) Directorate in executing the National Security Space Launch (NSSL) Program. This role supports the mission of ensuring Falcon family launch vehicles meet all requirements for National Security Space (NSS) satellite mission launch services.
You will co-lead a world-class team of project engineers, providing a critical management interface between multi-disciplined contractors, vendors, and Space Force members. This is a hybrid position requiring four days onsite and one day remote, subject to change based on customer requirements.

You will co-lead a world-class team of project engineers, providing a critical management interface between multi-disciplined contractors, vendors, and Space Force members. This is a hybrid position requiring four days onsite and one day remote, subject to change based on customer requirements.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Leading a team of Falcon Project Engineers and providing a management interface with a multi-disciplined team consisting of Contractors, Vendors, FFRDC, and Space Force members.
- Assisting the Falcon Chief Engineer in managing weekly and daily technical products delivered by MANTECH as the Systems Engineering & Integration contractor.
- Supporting the Space Force customer in responding to higher headquarters-level taskers, program-level special projects, and mission-specific requirements.
- Maintaining situational awareness of all New Entrant certification activities and sharing lessons learned to ensure consistency in evaluations across all launch providers.
- Utilizing sound judgment and effective decision-making to collaborate with multiple agencies and personnel successfully in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiently using Confluence to establish, maintain, and publish new pages/reports while interfacing with JIRA and Microsoft SharePoint-type databases.
- Actively adopting new learning techniques and tool technologies to solve complex problems independently and proactively.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Systems, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering (other STEM fields may be considered).
- 12+ years of experience as a Systems Engineer, Technical Project Engineer, or in related fields.
- At least 3 years of specific experience in NSSL, Launch/Range, DoD, or NASA launch or space systems project engineering.
- Strong technical background in Aerospace and Launch Vehicles with a dedicated approach to proactive problem-solving.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience working at Space & Missile Systems Center (SMC), now Space Systems Command (SSC), or other United States Government agencies.
- Deep familiarity with Falcon family launch vehicles, including processing and flight operations.
- Current PMP Certification or industry equivalent.
- Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills with a proven ability to work cohesively with multi-disciplinary teams.
Clearance Requirements:
- Must have current/active Secret Clearance
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense TS/SCI security clearance.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
- Needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
- Frequently communicates with co-workers, management, and customers, which may involve delivering presentations. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
