Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Providing technical expertise in organization of multiple safety programs to include; oversee implementation of safety policies, safety program management, conducting safety inspections, record and provide installation wide training on safety, investigate accident/safety mishaps, compile data and devise corrective action to prevent future mishaps.

- This is a Non-Combat Essential (NCE) position. The incumbent must agree in writing to continue to perform the duties of the position in the event of an emergency, until relieved by proper authority. When appropriate, the employee's dependents will be evacuated from the crisis zone with the same priority as other DoD-sponsored evacuees.
- The incumbent must meet all training requirements for a GS-11 Safety Specialist in accordance with MCO 5100.29C, Volume 1, Chapter 5 and NAVEDTRA 10076B which include the following: Occupational Health and Industrial Hygiene, Hazardous Materials, Electrical Safety, Occupational Safety and Health Standards for General and Construction Industries, and Mishap Investigations
- This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.

- You will directly supervise U.S. Civil Service, local national, and military personnel, performing the full range of supervisory and administrative duties.
- You will conduct performance evaluations of assigned personnel and provide guidance to subordinates on technical and administrative matters, recommend promotion and reassignment of subordinates; resolve grievances and complaints.
- You will oversee the management of Installation level traditional Safety and Occupational Health programs, also referred to as Marine Corps Core Safety Service
- You will oversee the management of Installation level non-traditional programs such as Private and Commercial Vehicle Licensing programs, and Load Testing and Inspection program of Weight Handling, Ordnance Handling, and Material Handling Equipment.
- You will assist the Director and Deputy Director, providing expert knowledge in reviewing and ensuring orders, regulations, and procedures of programs assigned meet or exceed all applicable U.S. and Host Nation Standards.
- You will review accident mishap investigations to ensure accuracy in determining contributing elements of accident/mishap investigations and recommend mitigating measures to avoid future accidents/mishaps.
- You will assist in developing the annual budget by identifying resources needed to carry out the tasks assigned.
- You will augment the Commanding General's Inspection Program as an Inspector, assessing subordinate installations and commands safety management systems.
