Duties

  • Prepares AT/FP related threat analysis reports and provides focused AT/FP related analytical support to air and ground operations as applicable to Defense Support to Civil Authorities (DSCA), Homeland Defense (HD), and Air Sovereignty Alert Missions in support of the C-NAF ATO and the C-NAF Chief of FP.
  • Identifies the requirement for, and requests the initiation of, highly sensitive intelligence and counterintelligence support of international and/or national significance through the FPC intelligence function, SF, FP and CI functional to directly support CONR-1 AF (AFNORTH) and NORTHCOM operations.
  • Assists in the direction, coordination, review and evaluation of AT/FP related activities within CONR-1 AF (AFNORTH) and coordinates those activities with DoD and national-level agencies.
  • Represents CONR-1 AF (AFNORTH) in USAF, DoD, and national-level working groups and committees.
  • Establishes and maintains a current series of liaison contacts with DoD and national-level agencies as an expert in the field of AT and FP.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions, Security Administration Series 0080.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-11, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes interplay of geographical, political, military, economic, and industrial forces in various regions of the world as well as law enforcement sensitive information and antiterrorism/force protection threat entities, operations, and capabilities that may be directed; knowledge of policies, entities, missions, resources, operations, capabilities, databases, and requirements to perform antiterrorism/force protection planning, operations, collection, threat analysis, and other force protection related activities; knowledge of the principles, concepts, and methodologies of antiterrorism/force protection analysis and research to include link analysis and database manipulation; and knowledge of Force Protection/Security Tactics Techniques and Procedures.NOTE: Your resume must support your response.

FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in -grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-11 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-12 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
  • Knowledge of the interplay of geographical, political, military, economic, and industrial forces in various regions of the world as well as law enforcement sensitive information and AT/FP threat entities, operations, and capabilities that may be directed against USAF, DoD, and other US resources.
  • Knowledge of DoD and USAF policies, entities, missions, resources, operations, capabilities, databases, and requirements to perform AT/FP planning, operations collection, threat analysis, and other FP related activities.
  • Knowledge of the principles, concepts, and methodologies of AT/FP analysis and research to include link analysis and database manipulation and knowledge of USAF Force Protection/Security Tactics Techniques and Procedures (TTPs). Skill in performance of an operational assessment.
  • Skill in producing FP/law enforcement sensitive information reports and other products that are responsive to the specific needs of customers to include formulating and conducting original research; collating, organizing, and analyzing information; resolving conflicts; and presenting clear and concise findings, and skill in handling classified, unclassified and law enforcement sensitive data in accordance with established DoD procedures.
  • Ability to quickly assimilate disparate data and render knowledgeable and accurate assessments of the implications of such data; and to apply facts and estimates derived from numerous sources to a variety of problems having different technical aspects.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; to gain cooperation from others through tact, courtesy and diplomacy.
  • PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

    VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
