Role Overview
The Personnel Security Specialist is responsible for ensuring compliance with government regulatory requirements of the National Industrial Security Program (NISP) and protecting classified and proprietary information. Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with government regulatory requirements under the National Industrial Security Program (NISP).
- Protect government-classified information and company proprietary information.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external customers.
- Assist with security reviews, including Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA) site visits, customer visits, and formal self-inspections.
- Utilize knowledge of JADE, DISS, NBIS, e-APP, and SWFT to initiate personnel security actions, program accesses, and visit requests.
- Assist in developing policies and procedures for the Personnel Security function.
- Use company security databases and Microsoft Office tools to track personnel security processes.
- Identify root causes, develop solutions, and implement corrective measures related to personnel security.
- Provide a safe and secure workplace for employees, contractors, visitors, and suppliers.
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented individual with strong interpersonal and communication skills. You have a solid background in industrial security and a proven track record of ensuring compliance and protecting sensitive information.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college, OR a high school diploma/GED with a minimum of 4 years of industrial security experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a National Industrial Security Program, government compliance, Department of Defense setting, or government contracting.
- Must possess an active Secret clearance.
- Risk Assessment and Business Acumen: The ability to identify, evaluate, and prioritize potential threats and vulnerabilities, and to develop strategies to mitigate these risks. Understand the internal and external factors that impact the organization including market trends, competitive landscape and regulatory requirements.
Information & Analytical Thinking: the ability to collect, analyze and interpret information from various sources to anticipate and counteract potential security threats, while thinking critically and analytically to solve complex security problems and make informed decisions.
Adaptability and Resilience: The capacity to adapt to changing security landscapes and recover quickly from setbacks or incidents.
Interpersonal Skills & Customer Service: Strong interpersonal abilities, effective networking and collaboration capabilities, and cultural competence. High emotional intelligence and self-awareness are essential for fostering a respectful approach to security operations.
Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey security policies, procedures, and incident reports to stakeholders at all levels. Active listening & relationship building.
