Join our qualified, diverse Joint Staff J7 Team in Suffolk, VA, as a Deputy Test Director. In this role, you will be instrumental in supporting a unique Joint Staff capability, focusing on the testing, evaluation, and synchronization of advanced simulations and gaming tools used to provide an immersive training environment for Joint Exercises and Experiments.
This position is contingent upon your ability to obtain/maintain/transfer an active DoW Secret security clearance.
As a senior member of the Modeling and Simulations (M&S) Test team, you will be responsible for leading the development and execution of comprehensive test plans for military models and simulations used in computer-assisted joint and combined exercises. You will ensure that all testing activities align with exercise objectives and meet the highest standards of quality and operational relevance.

You will ensure that all testing activities align with exercise objectives and meet the highest standards of quality and operational relevance.
In this role, you will:
- Create, manage, and execute a comprehensive Test Plan consisting of test objectives, test cases, and vignettes (threaded test cases).
- Collaborate with and orchestrate efforts among TTB Planners, External Test Participants, Tech Coordinators, M&S Leads, Model Techs, DB Leads, C2 Leads, and other functional experts.
- Prepare and administer the technical systems that will be used to conduct the Test Plan.
- Build, compile inputs for, and present detailed slide decks for critical event briefings, including Test Plan In-Briefs and post-event Hot Washes.
- Maintain advanced model operator skills for constructive maritime, ground, and air maneuver simulations for exercise execution shift-work assignments.
- Identify and implement Artificial Intelligence (AI) enablers in support of contract deliverables.
- Craft instructional materials and deliver in-person and remote Instructor-led training.
- Brief key elements to a diverse audience, including test architecture diagrams, schedules, scenario overviews, MSEL storylines, and Sim-to-Stim architecture.
- Review Operational Environment (OE) documents and Master Scenario Events Lists (MSELs) to ensure test fidelity and alignment with training objectives.
- Maintain deep subject matter expertise in areas such as Sim-to-stim, Federation Management, ISR/Targeting, the Joint Exercise Life Cycle (JELC), and BDA/Adjudication procedures.
- Assist in the design of simulation-supported training events, contribute to database design, and support the stimulation of logistics, sustainment, and medical C4I processes.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- An active U.S. DoW Secret security clearance.
- A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field and a minimum of five - five (5) years' experience in military M&S testing or a related defense industry role.
- or additional relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
- To demonstrate ability to write comprehensive test plans and detailed test cases from scratch.
- Technical & Systems Proficiency
- Artificial Intelligence (AI) skills.
- Experience with REDHAT/LINUX operating systems (command line experience preferred).
- Knowledgeable in using JIRA for project tracking.
- Operational Requirements
- To be able to perform shift work during events
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience presenting technical information to varied audiences.
- Must possess or be able to obtain a valid U.S. Passport and be willing to travel CONUS and OCONUS as needed (up to 25%).
Additional desired experience and skills:
- Proven experience leading technical briefings and presenting to diverse audiences of government, military, and contractor personnel.
- In-depth knowledge of the Joint Exercise Life Cycle (JELC), MSEL development, and sim-to-stim integration.
- Experience operating Joint-level simulations such as JTLS, JCATS, JLOD, or JLVC federation components (MUSE/AFSERS, AWSIM, LOTS).
- Familiarity with C2 systems and their integration into a simulated environment.
- Knowledge of military logistics (deployment, movement, sustainment), systems, equipment, and Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTPs).
- Experience with one or more programming/scripting languages (e.g., C++, XML, Java, MySQL).
