The successful candidate will have a solid understanding of position description development, workforce classification principles, and federal human resources practices. The Position Description Analyst will perform a wide range of administrative, office and professional support activities.
Position Responsibilities:
- Provides expert scholarly advice, and consultation to projects and professional co-workers.
- Apply expert and highly specialized knowledge to gather facts, research and analyze data, and develop conclusions, recommendations and strategies.
- Exhibits expertise in performing a specialized job, task or skill.
- Possesses greater-than-normal expertise or insight relative to a particular technical or operational discipline, system, or process, and has been selected or appointed to use such expertise to solve a particular problem.
- Assists project members with analysis and evaluation and with the preparation of recommendations for improvements, optimization, development, and/or maintenance efforts in specialty areas.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Stays informed with Agency and Office of Personnel Management (OPM) polices, classification standards, and federal regulations.
- Works closely with hiring managers and HR specialists to gather input and ensure Position Descriptions accurately reflect the needs of the positions.
- Provides guidance to stakeholders on classification standards and position requirements.
- Reviews and validates position descriptions for accuracy, compliance, and consistency before routing for review/approval.
- Ensures PDs align with the Agency and Diversion Control Division's mission, goals, and organizational structure.
Position Requirements:
- Master's degree or higher in a scientific, technical or business discipline.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive work experience, culminating in current role as a senior technical/business professional who acts as an adviser in complex and critical client projects.
Skills:
- Experience with Microsoft Teams and SharePoint management and computer software programs.
- Must be proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
- Possess knowledge of applying analytic methodologies and principles to address program needs.
- Expert knowledge of the OPM classification regulations and policies.
- Exceptional research, writing, and grammar skills.
- Strong ability to communicate Position Description concerns or improvements effectively, both in writing and verbally, to senior-level personnel.
