Overview

What will you do?
VTG is seeking an experienced Database Administrator (DBA). The successful candidate will provide database administration and engineering support across a complex enterprise environment supporting a government customer.
This role requires a highly skilled database professional with deep experience supporting Oracle environments, along with familiarity managing databases across Windows, Linux, and cloud-based infrastructure. The candidate will work closely with development and engineering teams in an Agile environment to ensure the reliability, performance, and security of mission systems.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter with strong technical expertise, the ability to work within secure government environments, and a passion for supporting national security missions.

Responsibilities
- Provide administration, configuration, and maintenance of enterprise database environments, with a primary focus on Oracle databases.
- Perform database installation, configuration, performance tuning, backup/recovery, and patch management across Windows and Linux environments.
- Support database deployments and infrastructure hosted on AWS RDS and traditional on-premise systems.
- Monitor and optimize database performance to ensure high availability and reliability for mission systems.
- Implement and maintain database security controls and access management in accordance with government security requirements.
- Work closely with software developers and system engineers to support application integration and database architecture design.
- Participate in Agile development processes, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, and technical collaboration.
- Utilize Agile collaboration tools including Jira, Confluence, and GitHub for issue tracking, documentation, and code repository management.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database performance issues, system outages, and operational challenges.
- Support database migrations, upgrades, and system modernization initiatives.
Do you have what it takes?
- Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related technical field with 16+ years of relevant experience
- Extensive experience with Oracle database administration
- Experience supporting Oracle databases in Windows environments
- Experience with MySQL and PostgreSQL database platforms
- Experience supporting databases across Linux, Windows, and/or AWS RDS environments
- Experience working within Agile development environments
- Experience using Agile collaboration tools including:
- Jira
- Confluence
- GitHub
- Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning experience in complex enterprise environments
