Overview

Unclassified Infrastructure Solutions (UIS) is seeking a strategic and technically accomplished leader to head our Enterprise Compute Services (ECS) organization, responsible for the strategy, engineering, automation, and operations of core compute infrastructure across the enterprise. This leader will drive modernization of our server, storage, and virtualization platforms while advancing automation, resiliency, and operational efficiency at scale.

This role requires a leader who can balance technical depth, operational excellence, and strategic planning while leading high-performing engineering and operations teams supporting mission critical workloads. Engaging and driving demand and change with infrastructure consumers is a strategic priority.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic & Technology Leadership
  • Define and execute the enterprise compute infrastructure strategy including, server, virtualization, storage, and virtual desktop services.
  • Develop and maintain the multi-year technology roadmap aligned to business and mission requirements.
  • Lead modernization initiatives including automation, infrastructure as code, AI- enabled operations, and self-healing infrastructure.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and drive adoption where they create measurable business value.


Infrastructure Engineering and Operations
  • Oversee the engineering and operational management of:
  • Enterprise server platforms
  • Virtualization environments
  • Storage and backup services
  • Infrastructure automation platforms
  • Performance monitoring and data integrity
  • Ensure high availability, scalability, security, and compliance across all compute services
  • Drive operational excellence through standardization, reliability engineering practices, and continuous improvement


Automation and Platform Transformation
  • Lead initiatives to transform infrastructure operations through:
  • Infrastructure as Code
  • AI driven insights and predictive operations
  • Self-service capabilities
  • Reduce manual processes and improve speed, reliability, and cost efficiency


Organizational Leadership
  • Lead and develop multiple teams including engineering, operations, automation, and performance intelligence functions
  • Build a culture focused on innovation, accountability, and continuous learning
  • Partner closely with cybersecurity, network, application, and cloud teams to deliver integrated platform services


Financial and Portfolio Management
  • Manage infrastructure investment planning and lifecycle management across compute platforms
  • Drive cost optimization, asset lifecycle strategy, and technical debt reduction
  • Develop metrics and reporting that measure platform health, reliability, and operational efficiency


Supplier and Strategic Partner Management
  • Establish and manage strategic relationship with key technology suppliers
  • Partner with procurement and contracts teams to support vendor selection, contract negotiations, and statement of work development
  • Ensure suppliers deliver against service level agreements, performance expectation, and innovation commitments
  • Drive accountability for supplier performance, including operational support, escalation management, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Collaborate with suppliers to influence product roadmaps, emerging capabilities, and enterprise adoption strategies.


Basic Qualifications:
  • Must have at minimum, a Bachelors Degree with of 10 years of experience in enterprise infrastructure or platform engineering OR a Masters Degree with 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years leading large infrastructure, application, or platform engineering organizations
  • Demonstrated success leading large-scale modernization or transformation initiatives
  • Strong experience managing mission critical environments requiring high reliability and security
  • Experience operating within Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) environments
  • Experience engaging and driving change with infrastructure consumers
  • Must have the following Leadership Characteristics:

  • Strong communicator able to influence across technical and executive audiences
  • Passion for modernizing IT infrastructure and enabling enterprise scale innovation


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Enterprise server platforms, virtualization, storage and backup solutions
  • Varied and modern application hosting architectures
  • Infrastructure and business process automation
  • Experience in large regulated or defense industry environments
  • Familiarity with hybrid cloud and platform engineering models
  • Experience implementing automation frameworks, infrastructure as code, and AIOps
  • SAFe certification
  • Active or ability to obtain a Top Secret security clearance


Primary Level Salary Range: $159,500.00 - $239,300.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
