VDI Administrator

Zachary Piper Solutions is currently seeking a VDI Administrator to support a mission-critical federal program based in Alexandria, Virginia . This position is a full-time onsite role. This position is critical in safeguarding classified virtual desktop infrastructures and ensuring secure, resilient access across IL2-IL6 environments. As a VDI Administrator , you will play a pivotal role in delivering, securing, and maintaining VMware-based VDI systems that underpin national-level operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Administer and maintain VMware Horizon environments, including App Volumes, Instant Clones, UAG, and vSphere-based infrastructure.
• Manage Windows Server-based components including Active Directory, GPO, and authentication dependencies required for secure VDI operations.
• Implement and maintain security hardening across environments using DISA STIGs, RMF processes, eMASS documentation, and continuous monitoring requirements.
• Leverage tools including ACAS, HBSS, and enterprise SIEM platforms to ensure cyber compliance and detect/resolve security findings.
• Perform TLS/FIPS configuration and secure communications setup within multi-classification virtual environments.
• Support daily operational needs, troubleshoot issues across IL2-IL6 environments, and ensure adherence to cyber readiness and mission availability requirements.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams to deliver customer requirements and ensure operational continuity.
• Conduct system patching, updates, and after-hours maintenance windows as required for security or operational needs.
• Travel occasionally (~10%) to support enterprise requirements across customer sites.
• Provide expert technical support, documentation, and system optimization to maintain high-availability VDI operations.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of related experience in systems engineering, virtualization, or VDI administration
• Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science
• Strong hands-on experience with:
  • VMware Horizon (App Volumes, Instant Clones, UAG)
  • VMware vSphere
  • Windows Server & Active Directory
  • PowerShell automation
  • DISA STIGs, RMF, eMASS
  • ACAS, HBSS, SIEM tools
  • TLS/FIPS configuration
• Experience supporting environments up to Impact Level 6 (IL6)
• Ability to support occasional travel (~10%) and off-hours maintenance
• Active TS/SCI Security Clearance

Compensation to include:

• Salary Range: $120,000 - $170,000 **depending on experience**
