Incumbent typical work assignments may include the following:
  • Manages the daily security and administrative operations of the Visitor Screening Facility (VSF)
  • Serves as the Primary subject matter expert for the Visitor Managment Systems (VMS) and its associated applications
  • Develops, maintaings and updates all standard operating procedures (SOPs) and governing the day-to-day operations of the VSF
  • Advise senior managment on all matters relative to visitor access and providing recommendations to support leadership decision-making
  • Acts as the principal representative for the agency on all matters concerning visitor access to the Pentagon
  • Recommends appropriate solutions to mitigate potential vulnerabilities.

Qualifications

  • The incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance with SCI and SAP components. A Special Background Investigation (SBI) is required with favorable adjudication by a determining authority.
  • This position is designated as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the civilian drug-testing program. As a mandatory requirement for employment in this TDP, the incumbent is to (a) refrain from the use of illegal drugs and (b) if required, submit to urinalysis testing. The selectee must sign statements acknowledging the position is identified as a TDP.
  • The employee assigned to this position is designated as a MISSION ESSENTIAL EMPLOYEE. Mission essential employees may be required to report for, or remain at, work in dismissal or closure situations due to adverse weather conditions, natural disasters, or other emergency situations (e.g., building closure due to power outage) causing disruptions of government operations, and are required to maintain contact with their supervisor during any dismissal or closure situation unless specifically excused by their supervisor.
  • This position is indexed as requiring the Security Fundamentals DoD Certification in accordance with DoD 3305.13-M, DoD Security Accreditation and Certification. The employee must obtain the required certification within two years of entering on duty in this position. This certification requirement only applies to employees hired or reassigned into this position on or after March 14, 2016.
  • In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the requirements described below.

    You may qualify at the GS-13 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement:

    One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service (experience may have been gained in the private sector) that demonstrates your ability to:1) Applying knowledge in a broad range of security policies, procedures, and regulations 2) Providing recommendations to leadership on improvement for security operations and 3) Applying extensive knowledge of security principles, evaluation procedures, and security technologies.

    Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
