As an HEAVY MOBILE EQUIPMENT MECHANIC, WG-5803-10, you will:
Conditions of employment
Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership. As an HEAVY MOBILE EQUIPMENT MECHANIC, WG-5803-10, you will:
- Perform major repairs and maintenance on heavy mobile equipment and special purpose vehicles
- Diagnose the cause of mechanical failures by means of visual and auditory checks, test equipment
- Make adjustments and repair to front ends, suspensions and electrical systems
- Determine serviceability by operational driving test.
- Perform body repair and corrosion control, refinish and repaint surfaces as required.
- Clean, test and repair radiators/oil coolers and associated parts.

- Applying independent judgment in determining methods and techniques required to solve unusually complex maintenance and repair problems
- Testing, inspecting, and evaluating the work performed on heavy mobile vehicles, equipment and systems
