Duties
Help
  • You will perform periodic reviews and evaluations of weight handling equipment operations conducted by crane operations.
  • You will monitor crane certification schedule to avoid equipment from losing their certifications during projects.
  • You will develop and review training to including training plans, training courseware, training aids, and onsite support to facilitate proficiency development for maintainers and maintenance managers.
  • You will resolve problems generated from maintenance, usage, inspections, and overload performance tests of weight lifting equipment.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • You must be physically able and willing to climb to heights of up to 200 feet on cranes and crane booms to conduct inspections. This may be as often as twice a month or more.
  • Duties require the ability to crawl, stoop, and occasionally work in cramped spaces.
Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Conducting evaluations (audits) of weight handling programs at Navy and private activities that perform naval nuclear propulsion program work for the purpose of evaluating and advising commands on the current effectiveness of weight handling programs; 2) Developing, revising, evaluating, and reviewing weight handling program training, including safety and training bulletins, and informational directives (messages, e-mails, etc.) to address adverse trends in weight handling; 3) Providing weight handling program technical advice and assistance to activities (e.g., material condition inspections, maintenance, load testing, guidance in crane upgrades, replacements and modernization, etc.); 4) Serving as an on-site representative responsible for overseeing and evaluating all aspects of the activity weight handling program, including day-to-day oversight of program management, all facets of crane certification process, engineering, training, and operations.
