Job Description

As an IT Strategic Business Partner in the Business Technology Organization (BTO), you will serve as a trusted advisor and strategic thinker to the Space and Mission Systems (SMS) business leaders, providing guidance and support on the use of technology to achieve business objectives. You will play a crucial role in understanding the SMS business needs and translating them into IT solutions, ensuring alignment between technology initiatives and business objectives. You will be a primary IT liaison for the Operations strategic capability unit (SCU), supporting all departments within the SCU. You will have a deep understanding of SMS business strategy, industry trends, and technology landscape to identify opportunities for innovation and improvement. The IT Strategic Business Partner will work closely with cross-functional teams to develop and implement technology solutions that drive business growth, improve efficiency, and enhance customer experience.

The Operations Strategic Capabilities Unit plays a fundamental role in enabling efficient business and program execution - from strategic capital investments, industrial operations and an efficient supply chain, to state-of-the-art manufacturing and test operations and top-notch facilities management.

What You'll Do:
  • Collaborate with business leaders and/or functional leaders to understand their strategic objectives and develop technology solutions that align with their needs.
  • Partner with SMS Operations SCU to provide strategic guidance on technology investments and initiatives that support the organization's business strategy.
  • Develop and manage the IT strategic plan for SMS Operations SCU, ensuring alignment with the organization's overall business strategy.
  • Define, prioritize, and sponsor program and project initiatives for SMS Operations SCU.
  • Gather high-level business requirements and define scope during initial discovery by conducting meetings/interviews, and facilitate large group/cross-functional sessions with partners.
  • Serve as a bridge between business and IT teams, effectively communicating technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and vice versa.
  • Maintain up-to-date awareness of the current and future directions of the industry and associated technologies, and, where appropriate, make recommendations for implementation of new/upgraded systems and technologies.
  • Lead, through influence, a team of IT professionals, providing guidance and support to ensure the successful delivery of IT projects and initiatives.
  • Monitor and manage financials for areas of responsibility.
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site three or more days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.

  • Work is performed in an office environment, laboratory, cleanroom, or production floor.


Required Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Related Bachelor's and 10 or more years of related experience; or HS Diploma and 14 or more years of related experience.
  • Each higher-level degree, i.e., Associate's, Bachelor's Degree, Master's Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for additional years of experience.
  • Related certifications may count towards years of related experience.
  • Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
  • Extensive knowledge of IT industry standard service delivery, cyber compliance and assurance, operations, processes, standards, tools, and capabilities with a focus on cloud technologies, infrastructure and project management.
  • Track record of developing and implementing IT system and process changes to improve performance and drive value.
  • Demonstrated record of managing internal and external (vendor) stakeholders to deliver technology solutions.
  • Presentation skills-able to communicate technology solutions to non-technical stakeholders by focusing on business outcomes and value.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing successful IT strategies that drive business growth and improve efficiency.
  • Deep experience with IT demand management, IT project management, and resource management.
  • Demonstrated record of capturing and developing requirements in order to support the development of technical solutions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with cross-functional teams and stakeholders, as well as present and converse with sector senior leadership.
  • Ability to work across multiple functions / organizations and build trusted working relationships.
  • Ability to be self-directed, detail oriented, and to multi-task.
  • Ability to learn and follow processes while also identifying opportunities for process improvement.
  • Ability to handle conflict and difficult situations.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Experience working within an Aerospace and Defense organization.
  • Experience working in closed or classified environments.
  • Experience with cloud computing, software as a service (SaaS), Gov Cloud, IL certified environments deployment and support.
  • Experience with IT governance and risk management frameworks.
  • Professional certifications in IT, such as ITIL or PMP.
  • Masters degree.


Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $149603 - $254317

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
