Pay Range: $40 - $45 per hour
Purpose:
- Valkyrie Enterprises is seeking an experienced Electronics Technician III (Electronic Security Systems) to support a large, complex, fully integrated DoD Electronic Security System (ESS) environment at Ft. Hood, TX.
- This position supports enterprise-level physical security systems including access control, intrusion detection, video surveillance, duress, and life-safety interfaces across a large DoD installation.
- This is a hands-on, senior-level technical role responsible for advanced diagnostics, system configuration, integration support, and lifecycle maintenance of mission-critical security infrastructure.
Job Description:
- Electronics Technician III performs advanced maintenance, troubleshooting, testing, and repair of integrated electronic security systems in a DoD environment.
- Systems Supported:
- Lenel OnGuard (Access Control & Intrusion Detection)
- Genetec Security Center or Milestone XProtect (CCTV / VMS)
- HID Global TotGuard (Infant Protection)
- Duress Alarm Systems
- Integrated IP-based CCTV Systems
- Networked Door Controllers & Field Devices
- Power supplies, UPS systems, and low-voltage infrastructure
- Perform advanced troubleshooting of enterprise access control, IDS, and CCTV systems.
- Diagnose hardware, software, firmware, and network-related faults.
- Support system integrations between Lenel, Genetec, Milestone, HID TotGuard, and duress systems.
- Perform system configuration, database modifications, and controller programming.
- Troubleshoot TCP/IP network communications issues affecting security devices.
- Interpret system logs, alarm data, and diagnostic reports.
- Support system upgrades, patching, and firmware updates.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, riser diagrams, and blueprints.
- Perform testing and certification of field devices (readers, locks, sensors, cameras).
- Conduct preventive maintenance and lifecycle replacement activities.
- Ensure compliance with DoD standards, UFC criteria, and site security requirements.
- Provide technical support during inspections, audits, and vulnerability assessments.
- Interface regularly with customers and senior government officials.
- Work independently with minimal supervision in a secure environment.
Qualifications:
- Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent and at least of 4 years of hands-on experience in maintenance of electronic security systems.
- Must have experience troubleshooting enterprise-level access control and CCTV systems.
- Must have direct experience with a minimum of 2 of the following:
- Genetec Security Center configuration
- Milestone XProtect configuration
- HID Global TotGuard systems
- Must have experience with IP-based networked security devices
- Must have the ability to read and interpret schematics and system drawings
- Must have experience using diagnostic tools (multimeter, cable testers, network testers)
- Must have knowledge of low-voltage power systems and grounding per NEC
- Must have proficient with Microsoft Office and system documentation tools
- Must have strong communication skills
- Must have valid U.S. Driver's License
Desired Qualifications:
- Lenel OnGuard administration or maintenance experience preferred.
- Manufacturer certifications (Lenel, Genetec, Milestone, HID) preferred.
- CompTIA Security+ or equivalent cybersecurity certification preferred.
- OSHA 10 or 30-hour certification preferred.
- CPR / First Aid Certification preferred.
- Formal electronics training (military, trade school, or apprenticeship) preferred.
- Experience in DoD or Federal security environments preferred.
Security Requirements:
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a DoD "Secret" security clearance.
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be able to obtain installation access credentials.
Travel Requirements:
- Between 0% - 5% Travel, international and domestic, depending on program requirements.
- If position requires travel by domestic flight or access to secure federal facilities/military bases, candidate must be able to obtain (by start of position) and maintain appropriate identification credentials, such as REAL ID. Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to reach, climb, stoop, & kneel up to 75% of the time.
- Repetitive motion, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, hearing, and visual acuity (depth perception).
- Working at heights (Ladders and lifts up to 60')
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
