MANTECH seeks a motivated and detail-oriented Senior Cyber Security Engineer to join our team in Chantilly, VA.
The Senior Cyber Security Engineer will support system security architecture and assurance by helping to implement robust cybersecurity frameworks, assess risk, and lead system compliance activities. This role involves leading the security engineering efforts across complex computing environments to ensure data integrity and availability.

The Senior Cyber Security Engineer will support system security architecture and assurance by helping to implement robust cybersecurity frameworks, assess risk, and lead system compliance activities. This role involves leading the security engineering efforts across complex computing environments to ensure data integrity and availability.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Providing ISSE support and working closely with ISSMs, ISSOs, and IT teams to integrate security controls and ensure compliance with RMF, NIST 800-53, and DoD security standards
- Supporting security authorization activities in compliance with the Information System Certification and Accreditation Process (ICD 503), the NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF) process, and prescribed ICs business processes for security engineering
- Providing Information Assurance (IA) security requirements to update system requirement documents and coordinating IA matters with other directorates and external partners as necessary
- Performing and reviewing technical security assessments of computing environments to identify vulnerabilities and recommending mitigation strategies
- Evaluating proposed software, hardware, firmware, and infrastructure, including DEVSECOPS, containerization, and zero-trust architectures, to ensure compliance with applicable security guidelines
- Supporting security toolsets such as SIEMs, LogRhythm, ACAS/Nessus/SCAP, and working with mandatory/role-based access control concepts
- Identifying overall security requirements for the proper handling of Government data and ensuring complete and functioning systems that meet all requirements
- Contributing to security planning, risk assessment, and certification activities while reviewing C&A documentation for completeness and compliance
- Assisting architects and systems developers in identifying and implementing appropriate information security functionality to ensure consistent application of government security policy
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or 4+ years of additional IT experience in lieu of a degree
- 5+ years of experience in Cyber Security
- Experience serving as an Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) on programs of similar scope, type, and complexity
- Demonstrated experience conducting system security assessments and implementing cybersecurity mitigation strategies
- Experience with network documentation including security compliance, configuration management, and patching
- Ability to obtain a Security+ certification within 6 months of hire
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP certification)
- Experience with the Sponsor's primary cyber risk and compliance automation tools
- Self-starter with excellent people skills - able to work across teams, organize meetings/boards, and drive change throughout an organization
Clearance Requirements:
- An active TS/SCI with Polygraph.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50%.
- Needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
- Frequently communicates with co-workers, management, and customers, which may involve delivering presentations. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
