The Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Sector, Air Dominance Division is seeking a dynamic leader to serve as a Sr. Program Director. The position is located in Palmdale, CA and involves travel.

The director leads all phases of programs from inception through completion. Responsible for the cost, schedule and technical performance of company programs or subsystems of major programs. Participates in the negotiation of contract and contract changes. Coordinates the preparation of proposals, business plans, proposal work statements and specifications, operating budgets and financial terms/conditions of contract. Acts as primary customer contact for program activities, leading program review sessions with customers to discuss cost, schedule, and technical performance.

Primary responsibilities include the management of cost, schedule, and technical performance of company programs or subsystems and include, leading technical areas of:
  • Sustaining Engineering, Reliability Maintainability & Testability (RMT)
  • Logistics Support Analysis (LSA)
  • Modeling & Simulation (ModSim)
  • Support Equipment (SE) Engineering
  • Support Hardware
  • Prognostics & Health Management (PHM)
  • Obsolescence Management
  • Training & Training Systems Design
  • Technical Data
  • Support Hardware
  • Global Supply Chain (GSC)
  • Product Support Management


Other duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Cultivating customer relationships and intimacy to develop executable Life Cycle Management plans within the customer community
  • Developing strategies to manage and maintain requirements and design information from inception to retirement
  • Developing strategies to expand multi-year contracts and obtaining customer funding in support of extra-long lead requirements driven by customer modernization planning
  • Optimizing a program organization that effectively addresses customer requirements and incorporates the necessary internal and external sub-organizations
  • Leading and directing cross-functional Sub-pillar and Integrated Program Teams (IPT) to meet program cost, schedule and technical performance objectives
  • Driving predictable program performance, including regular measurement and management of key performance metrics
  • Identifying, allocating and managing program resources, including workforce planning
  • Participating in the negotiation of contracts, contract changes, specifications, operating budgets, schedule milestones, and key terms and conditions
  • Development and adherence to program, business, and technical baselines, including use of tools such as Earned Value Management (EVM)
  • Ensuring program team understands and adheres to contract scope, and manages change through control board activities
  • Conducting thorough risk & opportunity management practices including identification, mitigation and realization
  • Managing Government/customer supplied property or information (GFE, CFE, etc.)
  • Managing suppliers to meet program objectives
  • Adherence to all internal processes, policies, and applicable Government standards


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree with 10 years (or Bachelor of Science in a STEM discipline and 9 years) of related experience leading large organizations; or Master's degree with 8 years (or Master of Science in a STEM discipline and 7 years) of related experience leading large organizations
  • U.S. Citizen with Active Top Secret Clearance at time of application
  • Willing to travel up to 25% of the time
  • EVMS Proficiency
  • Ability to obtain SCI/SAP


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree and advanced training in Life Cycle Sustainment or Logistics Management
  • Sustainment experience of a large military weapons system
  • The ability to address uncertainty through an organized and analytical forward-looking approach
  • Experience in supply chain management to support the Life Cycle of complex weapons systems
  • Experience in managing geographically separated teams
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong financial acumen
  • Demonstrated success in strategy, program execution, and proposal support


Primary Level Salary Range: $266,300.00 - $399,500.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
