Job Description:
L3Harris Technologies is seeking a Systems Engineer to support planning, coordination, and execution of operational software acceptance testing for mission-critical space systems. This role ensures delivered software complies with established requirements, operational use cases, and performance standards prior to deployment.
The Systems Engineer will develop comprehensive test strategies, execute formal acceptance testing events, analyze performance outcomes, and document results in coordination with government stakeholders and engineering teams. The position requires close collaboration with the Space Program Office (SPO), National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) Operations Center Engineering, and cross-functional development teams to ensure high-quality, operationally ready software solutions.
Essential Functions:
• Develop comprehensive test plans, test procedures, and detailed test cases derived from software requirements and operational scenarios.
• Define entrance and exit criteria for formal test events.
• Establish and configure test environments to support operational testing.
• Coordinate with the Space Program Office (SPO), NRO Operations Center Engineering, and other stakeholders to align testing scope and objectives.
• Execute formal acceptance tests, both manual and automated, in accordance with approved test plans.
• Monitor, document, and track results, including defects, discrepancies, and performance deviations.
• Validate defect resolution and conduct regression testing as required.
• Prepare comprehensive test reports, including test summaries, test case execution results, defect logs, and overall performance assessments.
• Present findings and recommendations to program leadership and government stakeholders.
• Maintain traceability between requirements, test cases, and test outcomes.
• Partner with software developers, systems engineers, and operational users to validate requirements and operational use cases.
• Participate in project reviews and technical interchange meetings, providing status updates on testing activities.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance testing methodologies, automation strategies, and process efficiency.
• Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret system performance data and identify discrepancies.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
• Top Secret SCI w/CI Poly required.
• 2 years of experience planning and executing operational software acceptance testing.
• 2 years of experience developing test plans, test procedures, and detailed test documentation.
• 2 years of experience coordinating with government stakeholders in a formal test environment.
