Piper Companies is looking for a Solutions Architect - Mechanical Engineer to join a rapidly scaling technology organization developing advanced high-speed cable backplane solutions used in AI/ML, hyperscale datacenters, and next-generation electronics located in the Bay Area, CA (preferred), Texas, or Remote with heavy travel . Responsibilities for the Solutions Architect - Mechanical Engineer:
- Serve as the lead technical architect for high-speed cable backplane solutions supporting AI/ML and datacenter infrastructure-owning design strategy from concept through customer delivery.
- Work engineer-to-engineer with major hyperscale customers, providing deep technical guidance, whiteboarding, and system-level problem-solving.
- Influence and shape next-generation interconnect technology by collaborating closely with engineering, sales engineering, program management, and product teams.
- Travel frequently to customer sites across the Bay Area, Pacific West, Texas, and global locations to drive technical alignment and strengthen engineering partnerships.
Qualifications for the Solutions Architect - Mechanical Engineer:
- 10+ years of experience as a Solutions Architect, Mechanical Engineer, Electrical Engineer, or similar role supporting interconnect systems, high-speed cables, connectors, or server/hardware architecture.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States and obtain and maintain an Active U.S. Government Secret Clearance.
- Deep understanding of signal integrity (SI), EMI/EMC, materials, tolerance analysis, mechanical design structure, and high-speed interconnect technologies.
- Proven customer-facing engineering experience engaging with highly technical teams
- Strong system-level understanding of server hardware, datacenter architecture, and how interconnect solutions integrate into compute environments.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field required; advanced degree preferred.
Compensation/Benefits for the Solutions Architect - Mechanical Engineer:
- Salary Range: $150,000 - $200,000 base salary plus 10% annual bonus with potential to reach 20% based on company performance.
