1) Utilizing supervisory techniques, instructional techniques and good engineering practices to effectively give supervisory oversight; 2) Managing subordinates and team leads utilizing supervisory techniques to ensure that all credentials and certifications are obtained and up-to-date; 3) Mentoring and training on the following: mechanical principles, small craft repair and maintenance, and various types of machinery; 4) Repairing and overhauling main propulsion machinery including diesel engines and auxiliary machinery installed on service craft; 5) Performing preventive maintenance and repair on gas and diesel engines and associated machinery; 6) Supervising and overseeing marine equipment installed on small boats and service craft to include the hull and all installed parts and components, welding and marine painting.

- You will provide supervision for the assigned shop personnel and technical guidance to subordinate's engineers in the maintenance and repairs of all types of machinery found on service craft, small boats and harbor support equipment.
- You will be responsible for direct supervision of subordinate personnel and serve as the first level supervisor.
- You will work with supervisors of other shops regarding work coordination.
- You will maintain production records and prepare reports.
- You will plan assignments on a long-range basis (up to twelve months).
- You will coordinate efforts of the associated shops for trouble calls, major and minor repairs, and the scheduling of subject repairs to obtain maximum efficiency, expedite work, and for planning purposes.
