Description

Position Summary

Northern Technologies Group (NTG), an SBA-certified 8(a) IT and cybersecurity consulting firm, is seeking a Windows System Administrator (Night Shift) to support the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract at Schriever Space Force Base.

The Windows System Administrator will be responsible for the administration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Windows-based server and workstation environments supporting mission-critical systems within a secure DoD enterprise environment. This role operates during evening/night shift hours and supports system operations, incident response, and infrastructure maintenance activities during off-peak operational periods.

The System Administrator will work closely with systems engineers, software engineers, cybersecurity personnel, and integration teams to ensure system stability, security compliance, and operational availability.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Build, configure, deploy, administer, and maintain Windows-based physical and virtual servers in an enterprise environment.
  • Perform system monitoring, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis using system logs, event logs, and enterprise monitoring tools.
  • Install, configure, and administer Active Directory environments, including Active Directory Users and Computers, Sites and Services, DNS, and Group Policy Objects (GPOs)
  • Deploy and manage virtualized infrastructure supporting Windows server environments.
  • Implement system changes in accordance with configuration management processes and documented engineering procedures.
  • Investigate and resolve incidents through the REMEDY ticketing system, ensuring accurate documentation and timely resolution.
  • Apply security patches and software updates in accordance with DoD cybersecurity requirements.
  • Support multi-factor authentication (MFA) solutions within the enterprise environment.
  • Conduct physical inspections of systems and infrastructure components when troubleshooting operational issues.
  • Collaborate with integration leads, system engineers, and developers to support system integration and operational improvements.
  • Provide technical recommendations related to system optimization, process improvements, and operational support strategies.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of system configurations, troubleshooting activities, and operational procedures.
  • Provide status updates to team leads, managers, and stakeholders on task progress and incident resolution.
  • Support off-hour mission activities and operational requirements during night shift operations.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
  • Due to contractual requirements must be US Citizen
  • Active DoD Secret Security Clearance
  • Minimum 6 years of general professional experience (may be reduced with advanced education)
  • Minimum 4 years of experience administering Windows environments, including: Windows Server 2019/2022, and Windows 10/11
  • DoD 8570 / 8140 IAT Level II certification (e.g., CompTIA Security+ CE)
  • Experience with Active Directory administration, including DNS, Group Policy, and directory services.
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking concepts and LDAP.
  • Experience deploying and managing systems in virtualized environments.
  • Experience implementing or supporting Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA).

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience with Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) and enterprise patch management.
  • Experience supporting NetApp NAS storage environments.
  • Working knowledge of PowerShell scripting for automation and system administration.
  • Familiarity with Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and DoD cybersecurity compliance requirements.
  • Experience supporting Missile Defense Agency environments or DoD communications systems.
  • Experience supporting MDIOC operations or mission defense environments.
