Job Description

The X-Lab Software Engineer will support the C2BMC program and will primarily be responsible for working as a mid-level member of the X-Lab software development team to develop and test innovative solutions in support of X-Lab projects and experiments primarily using JAVA.

This position is located full-time on site at the Missile Defense Integration and Operations Center (MDIOC) located on Schriever SFB, CO, and is not a remote work position.

The Work You'll Do

The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications Experimentation Laboratory (C2BMC X-Lab) is a fast paced and dynamic environment. The X-Lab is responsible for developing and integrating future-capability prototypes for the Missile Defense System, including Sensor/Weapon Integration, Algorithm Development, User Interface Development and other critical leading-edge missile defense technologies. The Software Engineer's primary responsibility is to work as a mid-level member of the X-Lab software development team to develop and test innovative solutions in support of X-Lab projects and experiments. The candidate will primarily be responsible for software development using JAVA.

What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor's Degree and 5+ years' experience, or a Master's Degree and 3+ years' experience.
  • Active Secret clearance required to start.
  • IAT Level II Cert (Security+ or equivalent) required to start.
  • Interact with other people using good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Work independently or in a small group.
  • Be flexible in a highly dynamic and ever-changing environment.
  • Provide in-depth analysis and technical support of a large, distributed system written in JAVA.
  • Perform complex problem resolution, design, development, testing, integration, and user support for a large code baseline.
  • Follow specifications in order to develop or modify functionality with the code.
  • Assist with design, benchmark testing, debugging and documentation.
  • Interface with other system support groups to resolve problems, set standards and improve overall efficiency of the system.
  • Design, code, test and implement tools for automation.

Preferred

Experience is some or all of the following areas is desired:
  • Command and control system application development.
  • Previous experience with message translation software.
  • Automated test and pipeline development experience.
  • Experience with Software Integration testing including developing automated test scripts.
  • Prior experience designing and developing microservices and deploying with containers.
  • Experience setting up a container environment.
  • Understanding of system engineering, systems design and development.
  • Ability to clearly document activities, write project plans and summary reports.
  • Strong knowledge of software practices and coding standards.
  • Experience developing software for Unix/Linux and Windows platforms.
  • Familiarity with Java Spring.
  • Familiarity with containerization tools such as Docker/Kubernetes.
  • Knowledge of back-end development and message passing.
  • Experience developing enterprise applications.


Salary Range: $100,000-$148,000
