Planet Technologies is seeking a Microsoft 365 Knowledge Management Specialist that drives learning, process improvements, and promotes user adoption in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will need to be familiar with basic SharePoint content administration and content management, Power Platform applications, governance, user adoption, along with Training and User Education concepts.

The ideal candidate will be able to collaborate with organizations to create and maintain relationships with other Knowledge Managers and end-users while effectively leveraging technology to solve complex business processes and inefficiencies. Candidates must be willing to work on site 5 days a week in DC. Candidate must also hold an active Top-Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

    • Data Integration & Quality: Integrate and standardize data from diverse DoD information systems, ensuring consistency and accuracy across the enterprise. Implement data quality checks, metadata management, and version control to maintain a single source of truth for critical organizational data. Identify and resolve data gaps or inconsistencies and optimize data flows to support cross-departmental analysis and decision-making.
    • Knowledge Management & Collaboration: Design and oversee knowledge management (KM) initiatives that capture and disseminate institutional knowledge across the organization. Manage enterprise content from M365 Tools including SharePoint Online sites, Teams channels to ensure information is organized, searchable, and accessible to authorized users. Develop and enforce KM policies and best practices for document management, information sharing, and archiving, maximizing the utility and speed of access to knowledge for all stakeholders.
    • Data Analytics & Reporting: Utilize advanced analytics techniques and business intelligence tools (Power BI) to transform raw data into actionable insights. Develop interactive dashboards, reports, and visualizations that allow senior leaders to quickly understand complex data and make informed decisions. Perform statistical analysis and data mining on large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities that support the organization's mission. Optimize "quick-turn" analysis processes to reduce reporting timelines from weeks to hours, enabling rapid decision cycles.
    • Data Governance & Security Compliance: Establish and enforce data governance standards and procedures aligning with DoD and federal requirements. This includes implementing controls to ensure data confidentiality, integrity, and availability in line with FISMA guidelines and categorization of systems (NIST SP 800-53 security controls). Ensure all cloud-based solutions are FedRAMP-authorized and meet DoD Cloud Computing Security Requirements Guides (SRG) for impact levels. Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to conduct risk assessments, ensure information assurance and Authority to Operate (ATO) for data systems, and maintain compliance with data handling policies (CUI, HIPAA if applicable).
    • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with various stakeholders, including data scientists, analysts, IT administrators, and program managers, to understand data needs and deliver solutions. Integrate with globally dispersed teams and multiple organizations to unify data handling processes across different networks and environments. Facilitate information sharing between departments and external partners, ensuring that data and knowledge flow seamlessly to support joint missions and initiatives.
    • Strategic Insight & Leadership: Act as a subject matter expert in both data engineering and knowledge management. Provide guidance and training to team members and end-users on best practices for data usage, analytics tools, and KM systems. Advise senior leadership on data-driven strategies and the effective use of information systems to enhance decision quality. Prepare and deliver high-level briefings, white papers, and recommendations on improving data management, knowledge sharing, and technology adoption within the organization.


Skills Required

    • Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related field. 8+ years of experience in data engineering, data management, or business intelligence, preferably in a DoD environment.
    • Analytics & BI Skills: Hands-on experience with business intelligence and data visualization tools, especially Microsoft Power Bi for creating interactive dashboards and reports. Ability to perform statistical analysis and data mining to extract insights from structured and unstructured data, and to present findings in a clear, actionable manner.
    • Knowledge Management: Experience implementing or managing Knowledge Management programs or content management systems in an enterprise setting. Familiarity with Microsoft 365 ecosystem (SharePoint Online, Teams, OneDrive) for collaboration and information sharing. Ability to develop taxonomies, manage document libraries, and promote knowledge-sharing practices across an organization.
    • Security & Compliance: Strong knowledge of federal data security and governance standards, including FISMA (Federal Information Security Modernization Act) and FedRAMP requirements for cloud services. Experience ensuring data systems and cloud solutions comply with DoD security policies and NIST guidelines.
    • Soft Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to brief senior leadership and stakeholders on technical topics in a clear, concise manner. Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability in a fast-paced, mission-focused environment. Proven project management and organizational skills to handle multiple projects and shifting priorities effectively.
    • Clearance: Active DoD Secret clearance (minimum) is required; Top Secret/SCI eligibility preferred. Must be a U.S. citizen.
    • Certifications: Professional certifications such as Certified Knowledge Manager (CKM), CompTIA Security+ (or CISSP), and Microsoft Azure certifications (e.g., Azure Data Engineer Associate, Azure Solutions Architect) CCSP, Certified Data Management Professional) is a plus
    • Domain Experience: Direct experience supporting DoD, Intelligence Community, or Federal projects. Familiarity with DoD data classification (e.g., handling of Unclassified, CUI, Secret, TS/SCI data), and experience working with DoD IT environments such as Azure Government Cloud or DoD365 (Microsoft 365 GCC High/DoD) environments.
    • Tools & Technologies:. Knowledge of Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate) for workflow automation, experience with SharePoint Framework and other M365 tools

Salaries for Knowledge Managers at Planet Technologies range from $110,000 and $200,000. Several factors will impact final pay offered to a successful candidate including but not limited to the type and years of experience within the job, clearance level, the type of years and experience within the industry, education, training, etc.
