Position Title: DoD SkillBridge Internship - Electrical Engineering (Space Hardware Development)
Location: Webster / Houston, Texas
Relocation Assistance: Not available for internship positions
Remote/Telework: Onsite/ Hybrid 4 days on site
Clearance Required: Must be a U.S. Citizen, Must be Actively Serving Military Servicemember
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, standard duty hours

This internship is available only to currently serving Active-Duty U.S. military members who are approved or eligible to participate in the DoD SkillBridge program.

Applicants must:

• Be within 365-180 days of separation or retirement
• Obtain command approval prior to internship start
• Meet all DoD SkillBridge participation requirements

This opportunity is not open to civilians, students, or veterans who have already separated from service.

Overview:

Aegis Aerospace, Inc. is seeking a transitioning service member with an academic background or technical experience in Electrical Engineering to participate in a DoD SkillBridge internship supporting spaceflight hardware development in Webster, Texas.

Aegis Aerospace has a long legacy of developing payload hardware for the International Space Station and continues to expand its work supporting NASA missions and emerging commercial space stations.
  • This internship is designed for service members who already possess foundational education or technical exposure to electrical engineering and want to translate those skills into a civilian engineering career supporting aerospace and spaceflight hardware systems.
  • Participants will gain exposure to electrical hardware development, engineering documentation, laboratory testing, and integration of flight-support hardware used in space environments.
  • This is not a full retraining opportunity. Candidates must demonstrate prior education, training, or technical experience relevant to electrical engineering or electronics development.

Description of Duties:

The selected intern will work alongside Aegis Aerospace engineering professionals and will be integrated into the electrical hardware development process supporting spaceflight payload systems.

The intern will:
  • Assist with interpretation of electrical hardware requirements based on interfacing systems and project specifications
  • Support development and documentation of electrical system requirements
  • Observe and participate in electrical design trade studies and engineering decision evaluations
  • Assist with engineering documentation and configuration control for electrical hardware development
  • Gain exposure to circuit design tools and electrical analysis methods used in aerospace engineering
  • Support laboratory testing and troubleshooting of electrical systems using standard lab equipment
  • Assist with verification and validation activities to confirm electrical hardware meets design requirements
  • Support review and organization of electrical drawings and hardware documentation
  • Participate in design discussions and technical reviews with engineering teams
  • Observe procurement, assembly, and testing processes for electrical hardware components
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams including mechanical, systems, and quality engineering
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of engineering project objectives

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must be a current active-duty U.S. service member eligible for DoD SkillBridge participation
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen

Must demonstrate prior education or technical experience in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field, such as:
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering (completed or in progress)
  • Electrical or electronics engineering technology education
  • Military technical training related to electrical systems, avionics, or electronics
  • Engineering support roles involving circuit analysis, electrical systems, or test equipment
  • Basic understanding of electrical circuits and electronic components
  • Familiarity with engineering documentation and technical procedures
  • Ability to follow structured engineering processes and technical guidance
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to operate effectively in a professional engineering environment

Desired Qualifications:
  • Military MOS/AFSC/Rate related to avionics, electrical systems, electronics maintenance, or engineering support
  • Experience using laboratory equipment for electrical troubleshooting or verification
  • Exposure to circuit design software or PCB design tools
  • Familiarity with embedded systems or sensor integration
  • Interest in aerospace engineering, spacecraft systems, or spaceflight hardware development
  • Demonstrated interest in pursuing a civilian career in electrical or aerospace engineering
