Piper Companies is seeking an Embedded Software Developer to support next-generation aerospace and satellite systems in the Kent, WA area. This individual will contribute to the development of embedded software for advanced hardware platforms, including FPGA-based systems and software-defined radio (SDR) technologies. The ideal candidate brings strong experience in embedded programming, hardware-software integration, and rapid prototyping, with the ability to support systems transitioning toward flight-ready architectures.

Responsibilities for the Embedded Software Developer:
- Develop embedded software for highly embedded and FPGA-based systems
- Support prototype development and contribute to future flight-unit builds
- Implement and update algorithms within software-defined radio (SDR) systems for satellite platforms
- Build and maintain Board Support Packages (BSPs) for FPGA hardware
- Ensure reliable software execution on target processors and embedded architectures
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams on hardware, algorithms, and system integration
- Participate in lab demonstrations, field tests, and integration activities for aerospace applications
- Contribute to open-architecture frameworks and system-level modernization efforts
Qualifications for the Embedded Software Developer:
- 5+ years of embedded software development experience using C/C++
- Experience with Linux or PetaLinux for embedded systems
- Hands-on experience with hardware-software integration
- Experience implementing software on FPGA platforms or closely interfacing with FPGA-based systems
- Active TS/SCI with eligibility to obtain SAP access
Preferred:
- Experience with software-defined radio (SDR) systems and processor-level radio software
- Familiarity with FPGA toolchains, Verilog, VxWorks, BSP development, and open-architecture environments
- Experience supporting aerospace, satellite, flight vehicles, or EO/IR sensor programs
- Knowledge of embedded Linux systems, PetaLinux, or modern embedded toolchains
- Experience working in SCI, SAP, or SAR environments
- Desire to support future program phases including code development, system demonstrations, and flight builds
Compensation for the Embedded Software Developer:
- Salary Range: $160,000 - $165,000, based on experience
- Schedule: Hybrid, 3 days/week onsite in Kent, WA
- Employment Type: Full-time
