Cloud Data Engineer (Secret Clearance)

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking Data Engineers to support data transformation for a DoD digital modernization program in Hazelwood, St. Louis, Missouri. The customer is seeking engineers with expertise transforming raw data into accessible models on cloud infrastructure.

Clearance: Secret required

Location: Hazelwood, St. Louis, MO (100% onsite)

Responsibilities of the Engineer:

• Integrates data from internal and external sources to develop robust data processing systems.
• Designs and builds new data pipelines and scalable, reusable components to enable reporting and analytics solutions.
• Develops complex SQL and code-based queries to transform raw datasets into structured, accessible data models.
• Cleans, prepares, transforms, and optimizes large data sets for efficient integration and downstream use.
• Executes data management initiatives and enhances or restructures existing web and data architecture.
• Troubleshoots and resolves complex data challenges, performing root cause analysis to prevent recurring issues.
• Owns the end-to-end data pipeline and provides support for system issues and operational failures.

Qualifications of the Engineer:

• Bachelors degree in related discipline and 9+ years of related experience
• Active Top Secret security clearance
• 3+ years of hands-on experience working with Azure cloud native technologies.
• 2+ years experience with developing ETL pipelines in Azure using tools such as Azure Data factory, Event hubs, Event grid, Azure functions,
• 2+ years developing data engineering pipeline with Databricks or Spark
• 1+ year working with technologies such as CosmoDB, AzureSQL, Redis, Synapse
• 1+ year working with orchestration tool such as Airflow or Oozie
• Strong programming foundation with python or java
• Strong experience with SQL
• Experience working in Agile teams
• Experience working with streaming and batching solutions
• Experience working with csv, json, xml and complex structures
• Familiar with DevOps, CI/CD, security, and SDLC

Compensation for the Engineer:

• Total compensation based on experience level - $130,000-$185,000+ **based on degree and total years of experience**
