Program Overview

About The Role

Peraton is seeking an Entity Resolution Lead Engineer / Scrum Master (SME) to serve in a dual-hat role combining technical engineering leadership and Agile team facilitation. This position designs and develops scalable entity resolution solutions while guiding Agile delivery for a cross-functional engineering team.

The role serves as a senior technical advisor and team lead, ensuring high data integrity and accurate entity matching across large, complex datasets. These capabilities support mission-critical analytics, reporting, and operational insights for the CBP analytics and intelligence support programs.

Support will be provided across multiple mission locations:
  • Ashburn, VA
  • Sterling, VA
  • Washington, D.C.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement scalable entity resolution, deduplication, and record-linkage solutions across large structured and unstructured datasets.
  • Develop and optimize deterministic and probabilistic matching algorithms using similarity scoring and feature engineering techniques.
  • Build and maintain distributed data pipelines and data integration workflows using platforms such as Spark, Hadoop, or cloud-based processing frameworks.
  • Integrate entity resolution outputs into enterprise analytics platforms, reporting systems, and operational tools.
  • Serve as Scrum Master for the engineering team, facilitating Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Guide the team in Agile and Scrum best practices, ensuring transparency, collaboration, and predictable delivery.
  • Monitor sprint progress, team velocity, and backlog health while removing impediments that impact delivery.
  • Provide technical leadership and advisory support on entity resolution architecture, algorithm design, and scalable data engineering solutions.
  • Establish evaluation frameworks to measure entity resolution accuracy, performance, and quality.
  • Ensure solutions adhere to DHS/CBP data governance, security, and compliance requirements.
  • Collaborate with engineers, data scientists, analysts, and program leadership to align technical solutions with mission objectives.
  • Maintain documentation, code quality standards, and automated validation processes to support sustainable and auditable solutions.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of 12 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 10 years with MS/MA. 16 years with HS diploma/equivalent can be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • 8+ years of experience in software engineering, data engineering, entity resolution, or large-scale data integration.
  • Strong programming skills in Python or Java.
  • Experience with entity resolution frameworks or fuzzy matching tools (e.g., Dedupe, Splink, Lucene, ElasticSearch).
  • Experience with distributed data processing frameworks such as Spark or Hadoop.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.
  • Strong knowledge of similarity algorithms and probabilistic matching techniques.
  • Experience with SQL, NoSQL, and large-scale data environments.
Clearance Requirements
  • Current and active Top Secret clearance
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required CBP BI suitability.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or related field.
  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM), SAFe Scrum Master, or PMI-ACP certification.
  • Experience applying machine learning techniques to entity resolution problems.
  • Familiarity with graph databases or knowledge graph technologies (e.g., Neo4j).
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and modern data platforms.
  • Experience supporting federal or DHS programs.
  • Certifications in Data Engineering, Big Data, or Cloud Architecture.

Details

Target Salary Range: $112,000 - $179,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
