Program Overview

Provide warfighters with reliable strike planning and execution tools for Theater Missile Programs while modernizing and expanding beyond Tomahawk missiles. Our work includes developing and maintaining proprietary software, offering full lifecycle support from design to deployment, and ensuring compliance with cybersecurity standards.

About The Role

Peraton is looking to hire a Product Owner for our innovative team to help modernize the Theater Mission Planning Center (TMPC) while ensuring the reliability of today's operational system. TMPC is the mission planning and execution component of the Tomahawk Weapon System (TWS). This role will have the ability to by hybrid but you must be willing to be on-site in Santa Clara, CA or Reston, VA.

You'll work with experienced mentors to maintain and enhance the current system while contributing to its transformation into a next-generation capability, growing your skills across the full technology stack. As a Product Owner, you will support an Agile development team building mission-critical software solutions. This role operates within a Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) environment and works closely with Product Management, System Architects, and cross-functional development teams to define, prioritize, and deliver high-value capabilities.

What you'll do:
  • Backlog Ownership: Support an Agile development team building mission-critical software solutions
  • Agile Development Support: Participate in Program Increment (PI) Planning, backlog refinement, sprint planning, and system demos, while working closely with Scrum Masters and engineering teams to ensure stories are well defined and ready for development
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Serve as the primary liaison between the development team and program stakeholders translating mission and operational requirements into actionable backlog items
  • Acceptance & Validation: Define acceptance criteria and ensure completed work meets program and quality expectations. Review and accept completed user stories during sprint reviews
  • Continuous Improvement: Support Agile metrics tracking and improvement initiatives and help ensure alignment with SAFe best practices, DevSecOps pipelines, and secure software development standards
  • Documentation: Ensure development artifacts support required documentation, security, and test processes

Qualifications

What you'll need:

  • Education: 5 years with BS/BA; 3 years with MS/MA, or 9 years of experience in lieu of a degree
  • Clearance: active DoD secret clearance
  • At least 3 years of experience serving as a Product Owner, Product Manager, or Business Analyst in Agile teams
  • Agile Development fundamentals Familiarity with SAFe Agile principles and ceremonies
  • Experience managing backlogs using tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

Details

Target Salary Range: $104,000 - $166,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
