Overview
i3 is looking for a Communications Architect to support the Integrated Fires Mission Command (IFMC) Project Office which develops and fields Command and Control capabilities as a part of the Army's enterprise Army Air and Missile Defense weapon system. This includes capability development in the IFMC organic portfolio and the integration of new sensors and effectors, and linkages to Joint/Multi-Agency capabilities. The Communications Architect Supports the Solution Architect within the IFMC Technical Director's organization. Current concentrated efforts include the Integrated Fire Maneuver Network [IFMN], Integrated Frie Control Network [IFCN]. Joint Track Management Capability [JTMC] transport, Inter Task Force Bus [ITFB] transport, and leverage of proliferated Low Earth Orbit [pLEO] for persistent communications.

Responsibilities
The Communications Architect-
- Provides technical vision and guidance towards the effective maintenance and modernization of IFMC command and control [C2] networks. These networks span fire direction networks in the Army maneuver area, fire control networks, and external networks which may connect other air and missile defense capabilities or Joint/interagency organizations.
- Leads investigations into current communications problems, scopes effort and guides the communications development team(s) during investigations, demonstrations, and tests.
- Evaluates new technology to gain efficiency and new capability within IFMC C2 constructs.
- Leads investigation of urgent system anomalies with software/middleware/network/communication interactions
- Implements strategies for assured Precision Navigation and Timing [PNT] and alternate encryption/keying approaches
- Coordinates with architects and developers in the Software/Middleware/OS Environment/Compute/Network/Cyber domains within the IBCS technical stack.
- Develops and provides advanced technical training when required on IBCS, network interfaces and configuration, and WAN tuning in a tactical environment
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university. Additional experience may be substituted for degree.
Experience:
- 15 years of relevant network technology experience, both wired and RF/radio based
- At least 5 years of IBCS specific technical experience
- Employment of military Precision Navigation and Timing (PNT) capabilities
Skills:
- Employment of MANET/Mesh radio tactical networks with sophisticated resiliency settings
- Proficient in Red Hat Enterprise Linux environment
- Proficient in implementation and troubleshooting of network timing protocols (e.g. NTP, PTP)
- Familiar with the IBCS employment of RTI Data Distribution System (DDS)
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management, ability to explain highly technical issues in layperson terms
Qualifications:
- Active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance and the ability to maintain a clearance
- CompTIA Network+ and Security +
- Agile Software Development experience using Atlassian Tools (Jira, Confluence, etc.) [Desired]
- Project Management certification [Desired]
