Duties
Help
  • Develop plans for law enforcement operations on the Installation for the Chief of Police's approval.
  • Plan for current and long-range operations based on workloads, trends, and project requirements.
  • Approve, review, or develop implementation plans for new or changed laws, policies, and regulations affecting the Branch's programs.
  • Prepare position papers on law enforcement issues for the command group and higher headquarters as needed.
  • Advise top-level Installation managers on law enforcement issues impacting them and develops solutions to problems.
  • Review and evaluate Operations Branch and subordinate sections for adherence to Provost Marshall objectives.
  • Perform periodic and special statistical productivity analysis and evaluations of the short and long range requirements of the Police Operations Branch.
  • Establish, supervise, and direct the overall organization, planning and operation of the Operations Branch.
  • Prepare formal evaluations of the performance of key employees and reviews evaluations prepared by subordinate supervisors.

  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
  • This position requires the incumbent to perform and pass semi-annual qualification testing with firearms (pistol, rifle, shotgun, etc), and observe safety precautions.
  • This position requires the Incumbent to obtain and maintain certifications for Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) /first aid techniques.
  • This position requires the incumbent to be qualified and certified in the use of chemical aerosol irritants, TASER, radar guns, breath alcohol analysis instruments, and other tasks.
  • This position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment.
  • This position requires the incumbent to meet individual reliability and suitability standards prescribed by the Army Civilian Police and Security Guard Program (AR 190-56 and AR 380-67).
  • This position requires rotating work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Employee shifts are rotated on a regularly scheduled basis.
  • This position requires the incumbent to wear a uniform and requires the incumbent to perform routine and emergency daily duties while wearing a uniform and/or protective clothing.
  • This position requires the incumbent to pass an annual Physical Ability Test (PAT) and perform the essential functions of the position to standards published in Army Regulation (AR) 190-56.
  • This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain a valid state Motor Vehicle License and obtain and maintain local government driver's license.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of up to 25% of the time.
  • This position requires the incumbent to perform work that may require flying on military aircraft for Academy Attendance or Police related missions (i.e. AWOL Apprehension, etc).
  • This position requires the Incumbent to act in the capacity of a first responder to critical incidents, including criminal acts, natural disasters, lost or missing persons, mass casualties, and/or acts of terror or mass destruction.
  • This position requires the incumbent to execute the lawful orders of critical incident commanders, military or civilian. Such duties, even if performed properly may place the incumbent in danger of severe personal injury, loss of limb, or even death.
  • This position requires the incumbent to carry an assigned duty weapon and have the capability of rationally applying the continuum of force; and use deadly force if necessary.
  • This position requires the incumbent to successfully complete a Police Officer Field Training Program within one year of employment to this position.
  • This position requires the incumbent to be subject to recall in emergency situations 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes Planning, directing, and reviewing the activities of police officers; assigning work to subordinate police officers; observing and evaluating the work performance of police officers; Participating in investigations; utilizing basic laws and regulations, law enforcement operations, practices, and/or techniques involved for maintaining order and protecting life and property. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-10).

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

  • This position may require the incumbent to report as a member of an emergency response force during an actual or simulated accident/incident during non-duty hours/days.
  • This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations (natural or man-made disaster) the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
  • This position requires the incumbent to successfully graduate from a United States Army Military Police Academy; unless waived, in accordance Army Regulation (AR) 190-56; within one year of employment to this position.
  • A one year supervisory probation period may be required.
  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.

  • One year trial/probationary period may be required.
