Technical Director

Gray Analytics is seeking a Technical Director to play a pivotal role supporting the DoD and all Federal customers. This position is responsible for driving growth within the organization by overseeing all technical functions, ensuring the alignment of technology initiatives with the business's strategic goals. The Technical Director will lead all cross-functional technical professional teams and manage the development and implementation of advanced technical solutions to meet the unique needs of the DoD and other federal customers.

• Define and implement the technical vision and strategy to support organizational growth, DoD and other federal requirements.

• Supervise all technical activities, including: Software development, Systems integration, Infrastructure management, DevSecOps, Design engineering, Test engineering, M&S engineering, Cybersecurity, Data science, Software engineering and systems engineering

• Work vertically and horizontally across the federal business unit to provide resource allocations as needed across the federal business unit portfolio

• Lead, mentor, and develop the senior managers of technical professionals, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement

• Provide annual performance reviews of technical senior managers

• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including DoD and other federal clients, to understand their technical needs and provide effective solutions.

• Identify and mitigate technical risks, ensuring compliance with DoD regulations and industry standards.

• Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends, integrating innovative solutions into the organization's offerings.

• Ensure the highest standards of technical quality and performance across the federal business unit.

• Create standardized technical processes and procedures for the federal business unit

• Create training programs across the technology areas for the federal business unit

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or other STEM degree from an ABET accredited college or university

• Minimum of 20 years of experience in a technical leadership role, preferably within the defense sector.

• Proven experience in software development, systems integration, network architecture, and cybersecurity.

• Strong leadership and team management skills, with a track record of leading high-performing technical teams.

• Demonstrated experience in managing complex cross-technical technical staff from inception to completion.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop innovative solutions to technical challenges.

• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.

• Ability to write technical volumes across different technological areas.

• Expertise in proposal management.

• Engaging face-to-face with current and future clients is a must including after hours and at events



Desired Qualifications

• PhD or master’s degree in engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or other STEM degree from an ABET accredited college or university 

• Relevant certifications such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), IT Infrastructure Library (ITI)L, Professional Engineer (PE), Certified Test Conductor (CTC), GIAC Security Leadership (GSLC) certification, GSTRT (Strategic Planning, Policy, and Leadership)

• Prior experience working with DoD clients and familiarity with DoD regulations and procurement processes

• Prior experience advising Flag Officers/SES leaders on technical risk & acquisition decisions

• Knowledge of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, and cloud computing is strongly desired
