The Work

The XCOMM Ops Cyber Instructor Developer will be responsible for designing, developing, and delivering advanced cyber operations training tailored to the unique demands of cross-communications operations.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, update, and maintain operational cyber training modules and materials, including lesson plans, practical exercises, and assessments, for XCOMM Ops trainees.
  • Ensure technical accuracy, relevance to mission needs, and consistency with evolving client standards and frameworks.
  • Develop training scenarios that simulate real-world incidents and threats to XCOMM operations.
  • Deliver in-depth, hands-on training to diverse audiences, including military operators, cyber analysts, and support teams.
  • Lead facilitation of classroom-based, virtual, or in-the-field training sessions, utilizing advanced instructional tools and methods.
  • Support XCOMM Ops teams by providing mission-critical insight into communications systems vulnerabilities, security protocols, and cyber risk mitigation strategies.
  • Conduct research on emerging cyber threats specific to XCOMM operations and integrate findings into the training program.
  • Actively participate in operational exercises and evaluations to provide technical expertise.
  • Develop assessment tools to evaluate trainee performance and proficiency.
  • Identify areas for improvement in student outcomes and adapt instructional materials accordingly.
  • Prepare after-action reports, lessons learned, and recommendations for incorporation into future training iterations.
  • Coordinate with technical writers, SMEs (Subject Matter Experts), and policy advisors to ensure training alignment with operational objectives.
  • Interface with program managers and client stakeholders to ensure training objectives and deliverables are met on schedule.
  • Assist with training solutions proposal development for contracts when required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • XCOMM Ops Cyber Instructor Developer Journeyman:
    • Associate's degree (STEM field) or approved equivalent experience.
    • Active Top Secret Security Clearance with SCI eligibility is required.
    • IAT level II certification required.
    • 3 years' cyber-related duties / experience / roles. Examples include knowledge in command line interface across various operating systems, host/network analysis, forensic analysis, scripting languages, terrain mapping, network fundamentals, and/or familiarity of cyberspace defense actions and missions supporting USCYBERCOM.
    • 4 - 6 years' expeditionary/tactical communications or equivalent experience.
  • XCOMM Ops Cyber Instructor Developer Senior:
    • Bachelor's degree (STEM field) or approved equivalent experience.
    • Active Top Secret Security Clearance with SCI eligibility is required.
    • IAT level II certification required.
    • 5 years' cyber-related duties / experience / roles, such as knowledge in command line interface across various operating systems, host/network analysis, forensic analysis, scripting languages, terrain mapping, network fundamentals, and/or familiarity of cyberspace defense actions and missions supporting USCYBERCOM.
    • 5 - 8 years' expeditionary / tactical communications or equivalent experience.
    • 200+ instructor podium hours or CCAF ISD certification and/or 400+ instructor hours (on podium) OR CCAF ISD certification This skill level typically performs all functional duties independently and may oversee the efforts of less senior staff and/or be responsible for the efforts of all staff assigned to a specific job.

Working Conditions
  • Professional office environment, with the ability to work onsite in the main office.
  • May include work in classified environments, requiring adherence to strict security protocols and protective measures.
  • Occasionally it may require light physical activity, such as setting up training hardware, configuring lab environments, or troubleshooting systems.
  • Must be physically and mentally able to perform duties extended periods of time.
  • Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed to meet the demands of this position.
  • Must be able to establish a productive and professional workspace.
  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time looking at computer screen.
  • May be asked to work a flexible schedule which may include holidays.
  • May be asked to travel for business or professional development purposes.
  • May be asked to work hours outside of normal business hours.
