Leidos, is seeking a talented Quality Manager for Calibration Systems to support commercial, aerospace, and defense manufacturing/production programs across the Defense Systems Sector. The position can be in Decatur, AL or Huntsville, Alabama. With offices across the United States engaging in the defense, space, cyber and commercial fields, Leidos-Dynetics provides responsive, cost-effective engineering, scientific and IT solutions.
The Quality Manager for Calibration Systems position is responsible for implementing a Quality Control system and team that promotes customer satisfaction. The position will champion continuous improvement efforts and defect reduction initiatives to develop an effective Quality Control system for mechanical products such as machined parts, mechanical assemblies, composite assemblies, painted or coated assemblies, flight hardware fabrication and assemblies, and oversee Precision Measurement inspection capabilities including CMM, Laser Tracker and Scanners.

Primary Responsibilities
- Serves as the primary quality control authority for problem identification, resolution, loss reporting and continuous improvement.
- Previous experience managing Calibration Technicians, NDT inspectors, and Precision Measurement personnel.
- Manages quality control personnel on a day-to-day basis.
- Plan quality control staffing needs based on product manufacturing requirements, and delegate activities to respective calibration and NDT team members.
- Establish and mature a robust calibrated tools program and ensure all equipment complies with regulations (e.g., ISO/IEC 17025, NQA-1) and support internal/external audits.
- Establishes and implements metrics (process capability, control charts, measurement quality) for monitoring calibration program health.
- Assist in the development of quality planning methods for all product lines within the plant by ensuring the necessary measurement tools and techniques are applied.
- Experience in GD&T, interpretation of drawing requirements and understanding of design requirements.
- Interacts with customers to identify opportunities to improve quality and establish feedback with manufacturing and development personnel.
- Propose and justify expenditures for new measurement equipment or training programs.
- Foster a culture of innovation within the quality team, encouraging the adoption of new techniques and technologies that can enhance quality.
- Train and mentor staff on quality standards, procedures, and best practices.
- Reports to Quality Management on quality issues, trends, and losses.
- Participates in internal and external quality audits.
- Exhibit strong interpersonal communication and leadership skills to ensure collaboration across multiple functional groups within the organization.
- Manage the quality department’s budget, ensuring cost-effective use of resources while maintaining high-quality standards.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering, systems engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, manufacturing engineering or business administration, or equivalent number of years of experience.
- Must have 8+ years of experience in NDT and calibration systems implementation and/or management in a manufacturing and/or product-based environment. Fifteen (15+) years of experience acceptable in lieu of degree.
- Experience in a manufacturing or machine shop environment, with a solid understanding of machining processes.
- Understanding knowledge of measurement techniques and experience managing a CMM/ inspection lab.
- Strong problem-solving skills
- NDT Level III certification
- Experience in a QMS compliant organization with AS9100/ISO9001.
- Candidates must be a resident of or willing to relocate to the Huntsville, AL area.
- Must be US Citizen and able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in leading skilled professionals in a matrix environment
- Familiarity with Windchill, Solumina or other similar Engineering or work planning systems
- Direct experience with Manufacturing Execution System (MES) Quality Module implementation
- Experience in development of Corrective Action Board presentations using Ishikawa Fishbone, 8D or other problem solving tools.
- Experience briefing customers and executives regarding high level status updates, Root Cause, Corrective Action and Lessons Learned.
