Build the software that powers missile defense simulations and warfighter training systems-developing modeling and simulation applications that support the U.S. Missile Defense mission.
A Day in the Life - What you'll do
- Design, develop, test, document, and integrate software using object-oriented programming languages such as C++ and/or Java.
- Develop modeling and simulation software representing Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) and missile defense capabilities.
- Work in a Linux development environment supporting simulation tools and mission applications.
- Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including analysis, design, coding, testing, integration, and deployment.
- Collaborate with engineering teams using Agile methodologies such as Scrum, Kanban, and SAFe.
- Support warfighter training simulations and mission analysis tools used in exercises and operational planning.
- Interface with internal teams and external stakeholders to gather requirements, provide technical support, and present technical briefings.
- Utilize the Atlassian tool suite (JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket) for task management, documentation, and version control.
- Support operational training events and testing activities, including travel up to 10%.
- Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) from an accredited university
- Familiarity with object-oriented programming languages such as C, C++, or Java
- Understanding of the software development lifecycle
- Ability to obtain and maintain an active DoD Secret clearance
- Experience with software development including analysis, design, coding, testing, and integration
- Experience with Atlassian tools such as JIRA, Confluence, or Bitbucket
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Experience with Agile software development methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban
- Knowledge of missile defense systems
- Experience with infrared space surveillance systems (OPIR)
- Experience with modeling and simulation software development
- Experience supporting defense or space mission applications
